When you close the drive, it automaticly opens.. like right after.. BUT if you hold it shut, itll close itself and stay shut..

BUT if you reboot the power, it opens again.. AND if its closed when you power it off, itll open back up when you power it on..

The console is unmodded and about 5 months old and is no longer under warrantee as it's been opened..

sound like a busted DVD drive? or other issues?

i just cant find anything on the subject and the guy really wants his machine fixed, but i dont wanna order parts and have that not be the problem..

Buy a cheap dvd drive and swap out to see if you still have issues. Hopefull, it's just the dvd drive.

I have an older Thompson Drive laying here I could let go for about $25.00 including shipping in the US.

I'd suggest getting a Phillips myself, I've had one for over a year and it hasn't died yet. You can play CD-RW's and DVD-R's with it.
