Ok heres whats going on.
I tried to load the new OS 2.1 onto the chip using the normal recovery option from the OS 2.0.1 menu. But all I end up getting is a FRAG. After I rebooted I I got after that was 3 reboots and a FRAG (Xenim LED red).
So now I start it up with switch in recovery mode. Xbox light blinks green as normal and Xenum LED is red.
When it starts to read HDD the xbox LED flashes orange.
I get a notification "Got from HDD" to tell me the file was found. At this moment the Xbox LED starts to FRAG at the same time the Xenuim LED turns green.
If I boot it in normal mode after this I get the 3 reboots and a FRAG with red Xenium LED.
Anyone have any suggestions? _________________ -Scourge "Rx = +/_\"

I have a feeling I know your issue, but you aren't going to like it.
You may have a clone chip.
The Xenium OS upgrades will lock up a clone chip and give you a frag. This is just my first guess, but from the sounds of it and from what I have read about other people having the same issue after OS Upgrade that will do it.
There is an application that you can use to determine if your chip is authentic.
When you ordered your chip did it come with the chip only? Or, did you get the external LED, harness, D0 loom, pin header, and USB port adapter for your controller ports?

It came with all of the accessories. however when it arrived the Chip and the LED were not in the same packaging. Did you get yours like that?
We (meaning my poor friend who actually bought the chip, and I installing it) bought the Xenium Ice from an official reseller.
I was browsing the Team Xodus wedsite and they said that they havnt had any clones surface for that model.
Pfhphfhph! I dunno know whats goin on!
Ill keep hammering at it (Id love to literally) and let you know if I come up with something...
But by all means if anyone has a suggestion its very welcome!
...and to think I was planning to be done and hand over the finished mod tomorrow... HA HA HA HA! _________________ -Scourge "Rx = +/_\"

Mine are all in the same bag.
I'd hunt down that application that tests for authentic Xenium Ice.
I am getting jacked at these chips!! I just had two tonight give me fits. _________________ Good Deals: Death@Hand, funkydopenloven, StaticMind, Slamscaper, PorscheXboxter

WOOT!
I got it working!
DVD-R DVD-R DVD-R DVD-R
Thats what I needed.
I tried unplugging the HDD and loading the OS from both CD-RWs and DVD-RW without it working. I usually use CD-RWs for xbox stuff, but I bought the DVD-RWs just for the XBAI deluxe. Even then I could never use the Installer from boot. I would have to cycle the tray untill the Thompson decided it liked the disc. Every time Ive run the XBAI from this box it has been from the file explorer of the UX I already had installed.
DVD-R all the way. At least for a Thompson drive.
This is the first time I have EVER gotten the Xbox to read my media at boot.
I grabbed the XOS 2.1 ISO and slapped it onto the DVD-R
I hated waisting 4.7 GB of space, but its better than a gimp xbox.
So if anyone mentions having trouble with the XBAI runing from boot and they have a Thompson drive they need to get a DVD-R.
In case anyone reading this dosent like to take chances here is the type I used:
Maxell DVD-R
4x (blue package)

Glad you got it working. The starnge thing though, the fact that it said "Got FROM HD" and started to update...that is weird.
Usually, if it can't launch from the HD it would say HALT.
I always recommend using CD method when upgrading the bios.
Glad you got it working. Now if I could just find out why this one machine is giving Kernel Panic errors.... _________________ Good Deals: Death@Hand, funkydopenloven, StaticMind, Slamscaper, PorscheXboxter
