No posts on this board? Amazing. Now that the new installer is available and UnleashX is in the installer, I was thinking of playing with it a bit. If anyone has used UnleashX and Avalaunch, is one better than another? Is one more specific in it's function than another? Is this just an unpopular dashboard or is it just unappreciated? _________________ http://twitter.com/HQ_Shark2th
Under appreciated methinks........i've just started using UnleashX as a dash and after a few teething probs (i'm using an X3) that seem to be sorted with the latest build........i think its the better one of them all so far.
It updates its self, download skins, rip games to hdd (auto patches if required) and very easy to configure via a very comprehensive list of settings....what more could you want
Oh aye........it looks good too
As for Avalaunch.....can't really comment as i've never used it but it was a toss up between the two and i chose UnleashX. _________________ XBOX v1.4:Crystal:LE

So it's got some of the functionality of Evox and yet the online updating that Avalaunch does. Very cool. That's kind of what I was hoping for. I will have to install it and see then. I was hoping it was like that and I had heard that the skins are too cool. _________________ http://twitter.com/HQ_Shark2th

I'd say UnleashX aswell.
I've used it as my main dashboard for a few months now (around the same amount of time I've been working on Auto-Installer Deluxe) and I haven't looked back.
Avalaunch is OK, but very outdated in deisng. UnleashX's skins are fully configurable, just like Media X Menu (but don't bother with Media X Menu, too many bugs I found when trying to use it to make the new AI).
I've become rather attached to Avalaunch. If anyone that's used UnleashX could answer a few Qs for me...
What kind of online features besides autoupdate and downloadable skins does it have? Avalaunch has a feature that allows you to search for and download save games right from the dash for any game you have on your HDD. Does UnleashX have anything like this?
When you download a skin, is it put into a directory, or is it just there until you download another one. With Ava, you can only download one skin at a time (unless you download on your PC and copy over), because downloaded skins automatically overwrite the last downloaded skin. If I could change one feature about Avalaunch, it would be this.
Avalaunch has great X3 support, and more promised in the future. Does UnleashX have X3-specific options (support for XLCD, access to X3 options through dash, etc)?
Is the menu stationary (like Avalaunch) or scrolling (like Evox)?
Customizable skins (data display, menu and text colors, different images for different screens)?
Background music?

OK now I feel stupid because I have had Avalaunch as a second dash for a while and I don't think I knew this. _________________ http://twitter.com/HQ_Shark2th
UnleashX is the best dashboard in my opinion.I've used Evox and Avalaunch and I find UnleashX so mutch easyer to use.Better menu, better graffics.I have Xenium ice and X24983.67 bios. There are a lot of stuff in the settings of Unleash that you dont see in Evox or Avalaunch...That is just my opinion...The new Auto installer 1.0 delux is amaizing. It has everything you can think about...

never used avalaunch but unleashx kicks ass. auto update, music in the background, fan speed and eject color are right there in the settings, skins, and lots more. _________________ XBOX

fan speed is the only thing that avalaunch doesn't have that i seen. online updates, newsfeeds, download new skins right from menu, and change led colors are all on there. not to mention increased FTP speeds using boost with Qwix. also can access #xbins and dl directly to the xbox. tutorial in the works

Tough choice as both the dashboards have similar features.
Downloadable skins, File manager, music in the background, newsfeed, etc etc etc.
I use Avalaunch as my main Dashboard but use UnleashX when I'm transfering files over. UnleashX doesn't freeze up like Avalaunch does with invalid file names or if you reached the max files on your folder. Plus UnleashX has an auto-rename feature better than Avalaunch. Not to mention much better skins. Avalaunch has the nice xbox to xbox transfer which is very helpful copying files between xboxes. I just like the layout of Avalaunch better so I use it as my main Dash but they are very tough choices.

Someone stated earlier that UnleashX's skins are fully customizable... Anyone know how to do that? I would like to change the color scheme of a skin, and add some of my own graphics. Suggestions as to how I should go about it? _________________ Xbox v1.6

I was doing a soft mod on a 1.6 XBox, since it still had warranty left, I didn't want to open it up. The 007 mod left me with an amber eject button,
and, a black screen. I somehow ended up with a FRENCH soft mod that worked. It gave me UnleashX in FRENCH, but, it was pretty easy to figure
out. I have had issues with losing some files on FTP, but, I "THINK" I saw
a "ZIP" function in UnleashX, but, have been unable to find it again. Anyone
have any suggestions on where to find it, or, a Zip function?
Thanks

The Zip function is built into the Built in file manager. Choose file(s) you want to zip and press [start]. You should find it.
Also I can’t BELEVE I didn’t see this section till now.
Ya Shark2th give it a spin I LOVE it.
Reasons why I Like UX.
-Auto Updates
-Built in File manager
-Select game or program from menu, after that you can pull up a submenu that takes you DIRECTLY to the loc of that program. Its like right clicking in windows.
-Zip and unzip files in zip or Xbox zip format.
-Just added a function to switch to Xenium OS
-Preview skins from skins site you choose (2 are supplied), then download them. They are saved until you delete them.
-Keep your skins zipped (its actually recommended)
-Wicked looking skins, amaze your friends! Clean background vids and intro-outro vids (if the skin has that of course) Check out Abstract 2. Sharp objects, and explosions, what more could a dude ask for in a background?
-Skin previews for skins you downloaded in the skins menu.
-Have your pimp track playing in the background.
-Fan speed adjustment
-I know I mentioned Auto Updates, but Ill mention it again!
-Ultra easily modify menu structure.
-EASILY password protect ANY menu item. (Great for the modders with young ones, keeps small hands out of the settings menu)
-BUILT IN GAME BACKUP MAKER!!!! Auto patches xbe too. *oh ya!!!* I moved the "copy game" option to be a submenu in the Games category.
-Revamped Settings menu makes it ultra easy to reposition screen if needed, no more guessing, trial and error in your config files.
-Handles Previews like a Mack daddy
-Make batch files with UX (how DJB graced us with the AIDeluxe)
UX would be my ONLY dash if it had just one option added, trainers.
I have a link on the bottom of my root menu to Evox solely for trainers. Once UX supports that, Evox will be gone.
I haven’t given Avalaunch a spin as of yet. UX is so full of juicy programming nougat that I haven’t really wanted to try anything else. _________________ -Scourge "Rx = +/_\"
