Well I just tried a Spiderchip and I still have no luck with this xbox. So far I have tried a SmartXX and 3 diifferent Xbit 1.5, and the original Xecutor was the one that went out.
I am going to try using the Xecutor that went out in a different Xbox to see if that one fails to... Hold on.
Ok, well that didn't work. I tried putting the old Xecutor chip with the 3 jumpers on a known good modded Xbox, and the Xbox would not even turn on. This version Xecutor chip has the LPC plug on, and the little pigtail for ground and D0. Not too sure what version this is, but it is definitely at least 2 years old. This is the one that came out of the Xbox that I am having trouble with.
I will try doing a solder mod tonight with the Xbit wish me luck. I will be using a PACE ST45 solder station, prolly with a thermal 1/6" angled chisel tip. _________________ Hamzter...

Hmm, I would def try soldering in it then, make sure all the contacts are real clean, get some circuit board cleaner or something perhaps
Perhaps some pins are ok and some not hence the 3 reboots

OK... Soldered everything in place. Still I get the 3 reboots. Does anyone know if there is an alternate D0 on a version 1.1 Xbox?
I went by the V1.0/V1.1 Diagram. I when I put the D0 wire onto the D0 point, the Xbox Reboots 3 times, when I remove it, the animation comes up, but no Microsoft at the bottom of the screen.
Will this Xbox still work? _________________ Hamzter...

Hiya
yes there is an alternate D0 point you can solder, it's on the bottom, not far from the lpc is like 5 or 6 solder pads that are bigger than the top d0 and it is the one that is furthest from the lpc except 1 (last but one0
Always gonna be the 3rd in from the side of the mofo, i mean mobo
I seen some where it is the fifth from the other side and the 4th on others depending on version (your prob 4th)
But if the first don't work i doubt the alternate will either, I reckon it will be the LPC bus connections, tracks, a short or the lpc capacitor, the xbox can run again, but not being able to test it myself it's a bit difficult to figure what is wrong.

I found an alternate D0, tried it and that still didn't work.
I guess I give up. That kinda sux since I put so much time into it. If anyone knows, what could be causing this to fail? _________________ Hamzter...

Read my last post just above your, I would bet money on it being lpc related or bios related, don't think it is bios due to the chips you tried, and the same for the chips for the same reason.
I don't just mean lpc soldering mind, I mean the bus itself, i would check continuity with a multi-meter.
Put it on continuity check and put one probe on an lpc hole, follow the track to the next solder point and put the prob their, if you get continuity then try the next hole if they all ok i would replace the lpc capacitor.
If not you could send it off to be repaired to me in the UK or modgod in the US. depends where you are tho

For future reference anytime you get a frag with the power cycle save your time and leave your D0 alone. The fact that it's fragging is telling you that the D0 is good. Otherwise, unless you damaged some traces around the D0 area it would just boot up to the MS bios.
The D0 is telling the xbox to look to the LPC. I have seen a few circumstances where my customers have scratched some traces in the D0 area and they get the frag with the chip removed. But that is rare.
You definitely have an issue with the mobo I would think. If you have ruled out bios issues, I know the spider chip cannot be programmed externally at the present moment, is that correct?
I am trying to remember everything written in this post and by the sounds of it you have tried a few chips. I would have to say your mobo is boogered somewhere.

Currently there is no programmer for the Spiderchip. So that's it for the Spider for now. But how can I check the cp if it is bad? Will it be shorted? _________________ Hamzter...

Hiya
do what I said with the continuity test first, i doubt it is the capacitor
it just has to be mobo, i doubt you burned the cap as you were using solderless first, but it is possible that an lps trace went bad, overheated and burnt out, shorted or maybe is was fcked already..

Early in this post, I mendtioned that it had a soldered in header pin installed. I installed it almost 2 years ago. It worked until about 6 months ago. It kind of seems like the chip went bad as I can't get the old chip to work anymore in any other XBox.
Since I saw that this xbox was still booting up, I thought that it might be saveable/useable. The owner of this Xbox has since moved on to the 1.6 version XBox.
But I will try and accomplish a continuity test on this tomorrow.
Do I do a continuity test for both sides of the board or just one? _________________ Hamzter...
