I have now removed the chip and will proceed to softmod the console. As far as I recall, I have tried holding the power button for more than a couple seconds, but I did not manage to boot from the chip.

You may be fragging now that you removed the chip you may need to order a new chip online and install it and go from there maybe your chip died for some reason
