I recently softmodded my Xbox and loaded EvoX onto it as the dash and immediately backed up my files using FlashFXP. Once I upgraded my HDD and installed UnleashX from HeXEn I became unable to even ping my xbox. I've been dealing with this problem for about a week now and can't seem to find ANYONE who can solve it.
My Xbox's IP is 192.168.0.2
My PC's IP is 192.168.0.1
Default gateway on both is 192.168.0.1
Help?

I've used that tutorial and many others like it with no success. I just need to be able to communicate with someone who knows FTPing very well so they can help me trouble shoot this by asking me important questions to find out where I messed up.

Well do you have a router, are you using a cross over or network cable and have you tried FTPing to the APP on AID instead of your dash?

I'm using a direct connect to my xbox, no router. I'm not 100% sure it's a crossover cable, but I did this once before as I had mentioned and it worked. Not sure which cable I used as I have 2 so I've been trying every method with both. I have been just using FlashFXP, FileZilla, etc and not the onboard FTP program as I'm not sure how to use it and I was given a warning that said not to receive items to my xbox using that app, only send.

You could just install a different dash as an app and try it, i use xbmc and use the file share in it.

Any chance you have a tutorial or walk through for that? I have UnleashX, EvoX, and XBMC installed and, from what I can tell, only XBMC and UnleashX have an FTP client built in.

First off if you are doing a direct connect with static IP it must be a crossover cable (usualy red or yellow). Second Unleashx sucks for FTP, you can either boot XBMC then try it or download avalaunch unzip use cxbox tools to make it an iso burn to dvd-r at 4x and boot your xbox with it. Or final option is if you ar running wireless on your PC right click on the network you are connected to go to properties, pick sharing and check off share internet connection, turn on your XBOX go to settings network and switch to DHCP save and reboot. Your PC will now act as a router and allow you to plug a regular ethernet cable from it to the xbox, give it an IP and even surf the net on it.
If you use the direct connect I highly recomend Avalaunch and using IE for the FTP. Simply open IE in the adress bar type ftp:/xbox:xbox@your xboxs IP. Once it connects click on page- open FTP site in Windows Explorer. It will now open the drive as if its just another HDD on your PC

Also to avoid conflicts, I would make it like this
PC IP: 192.168.0.2
XBOX IP: 192.168.0.3
Gateway: 192.168.0.1
Well I can't find a copy of Avalaunch so I'll just keep messing with it.

Give them all 3 a different number ya know.
Take a look at my tutorial HERE and see if it helps a little more!
Just tried this tutorial with no luck, got
WinSock 2.0 -- OpenSSL 1.0.0d 8 Feb 2011
[R] Connecting to 192.168.1.102 -> IP=192.168.1.102 PORT=21
[R] Connection failed (Connection timed out)
[R] Delaying for 120 seconds before reconnect attempt #1
like usual
