Posted: Mon Jan 03, 2011 2:23 pm Post subject: Accidentally Reflashed To Stock Without Locking Drive. Oop
I am fairly new to XBox modding, and I had TSOP'd cromwell into my stock BIOS (i have a 1.0) and it ran fine. however, I wanted to install AIDeluxe, and therefore, would need a different BIOS, so I flashed back to the 4034 kernel included in AIDeluxe and after rebooting, realized I forgot to lock my HD. Now i'm stuck at the error screen 05. I used HDLOCK and locked it with the code I was given when i initially set up linux, and now I get code 6. I'm sort of, well, totally stuck and screwed at this point. If anyone can help me out, it would be greatly appreciated.
I have all the info from pre-install, but since I used the M$ BIOS from the AID package, I'm not sure if it's expecting a different lock password. Also, I think I'm locked out of my HD, I seem unable to unlock or relock with a different password.

however, i reflashed it with a BIOS supplied from the AID collection, MS 4034, which is the BIOS number stamped on the chip (well, sticker). i think that may have something to do with it, but since i have no clue what im doing... lol
anyway, i've tried locking and unlocking the drive... when i use hdunlock it says "done" but when checked in atapwd it still says locked and max security
when you try to use hdlock for shits and giggles (same with hddisabl) it says "device not ready"
hence why i'm stuck...
oh yeah, and at this point, the xbox is 'bricked'. it will not boot, due to the stock M$ bios. hangs on error code 5 or 6. unable to connect, and since it was a TSOP flash, I do not have a modchip to fall back on

Can I prepare or re-purpose another XBox (1.1) HD for use in this one? I have no problem losing data on said other drive if needed.

If you can still boot AID just flash the tsop with an X-2 bios and you wont need to lock the HDD.

I dont know if it will work on a chipped box but on softmod, hotswap and doslocking tools work well with an unlocked xbox.

I got it back up and running, someone on another forum pointed me towards XboxHDM. Worked great on making a new drive and using my backed up EEPROM file to make a new pass for the new drive, worked fine. Just posting here to let everyone know this worked, in case 5 months from now someone else f*cks up like me.
