Have softmodded two v1.6 xbox units with SID 5.11 sucessfully and upgraded the harddrives.
What I've noticed is that some games crash or have garbled graphics on these xbox'es but not on my unmodded xbox v1.4.
The games that i've noticed these issues on are Fable, Monkey Ball Deluxe, Midnight Club 3 Dub Edition.
Try deleting the contents of the E/Cache folder, and also folders X, Y & Z _________________

Also remember that the softmod is just a homebrew attempt at mirroring the BIOS and OS of the console with some modifications so bugs are inevitable, but Fable should work fine I have no issues with it on my xboxs with sid 5 or ndure 1.1.
Also it is quite possible that if they are being played off the HDD that its a bad rip, Ive run into this issue with True Crime and Alive or Dead. They load up then go south, but seem to work on other XBOXs.

I've tried with both running them from their DVD's and ripped from the hdd
Can it be the enigmah screenmode switcher I have to use since my xbox is a PAL unit that's causing this issue?

Possibly, Ive found the best method to run PAL on an NTSC console is to install the region free patch on the Ultimate Boot Disc 4 or to use a program like Craxtion 4 to patch and create an ISO from the ripped game files
And NTSC runs at a higher frame rate than PAL which could be whats causing video issues
The other option is to try removing the softmod and reinstall it or do a dashboard update and see if it fixes the issue.
Did you reinstall the mod after the HDD upgrade? What program did you use to build the HDD?

Used chimp to clone the hdd
Deleting the stuff in the folders and switching my unit back to PAL with enigmah didn't help....any ideas? it seems like the softmod doesn't like these particular games

Im not familiar with chimp, I always used xboxhdm 1.9.
The only thing I can suggest is the region free patch on the ultimate boot disc. I know Craxtion 4 patches the games quite well. Friends of mine in Australia swear by it to use NTSC on PAL systems. But it requires ripping the game FTP to PC then recreating the ISO
