Hi there the name is Amsterdam, live from Amsterdam Wink

I found this site looking for help with my new used Xbox.
It is the Cristal edition, modded with a 80gb hdd. Only when the package came in I saw that the hdd was loose in the package. I havent hooked the Xbox up yet because from my understanding the hdd should be inside the box? (I know, noob... Shame shame)
anyhow my questions are;

- The hdd is supposed to be in the Xbox right?
- How do I discover how it is modded? (hard/soft and with what) (I sent a message to the previous owner but he has yet to respond)
- What are the things I want to do (like make a back up or something or check what version/dashboard it is running) how do I do that.
- What are the things I don't want to do (aka how can I screw up)

I know these are big questions that can't be answered right away. I searched the forum for a bit but in order to do things correctly I first need to know what is the status of the Xbox, I know you guys can't tell me that but if you could point out on how and where to start so I don't f*ck up on first try that would be great.

On another note I have some experience with modding. Did my Wii, PS3 and 360 and I hope to catch up quick with the Xbox One.
(So I am not a total noob only new to Xbox one..)

Thanks for reading my post and any help/suggestion is welcome

Welcome to the site bro and trust me when i say we will get you set or die trying. Very Happy

First you need to fire it up and see if it is modded, guess you might have did that already so you will want to see if there is an out of place chip and wires under your disk drive that would indicate a chip mod.

Here is a non mod mobo, if there are wires or a chip in the holes i circled in red then you are chipped.

Let me know what you find or post a pic of your mobo.

Thank you for your assuring words.

I actually didn't hook it up yet because I was a bit blown away of the fact the hdd wasn't inside the xbox.

I will see if I find time today, otherwise I will do it tomorrow and check the motherboard right after.

Will keep you updated.

Ok on startup I get a dashboard like this;

It swallows a burned disk and loads up instantly. That was nice for checking because I also found out both controllers are dead. Crying or Very sad

%&*#!

Tried everything but couldn't get them to respond. Seller said one of them was failing sometimes but this is just crap.

Anyway the box has been opened before so thought it was chipped but it isn't, as can be seen on this pic;

As for the hdd. There was one in it, 60gb instead of 80gb as said but got screwed already with the controllers not working so whatever. Wink
here is a photo of the sticker;

The only part I don't get is why the hell did he put another hdd in the package?
Did he thought it would compare for both controllers not working or something? Stupid.
Couldn't hook it up the my pc either, don't have a IDE connection.
Anyways here is a photo of the sticker from the loose hdd. Don't know if you can see anything about it but I didn't.

Well, now it's time to wait for the other controller.
Because he said one was failing I ordered another one. but now I can't do anything until it arrives.
Might just write a angry email to the seller.

The top HDD is going to be the large added HDD and the seagate bottom pic is the original HDD that comes with the xbox off the shelf.

He sent you the old seagate in case the larger HDD was to fail and then you could clone a new one.

If you can back up the eeprom to your pc just to be safe, you never know what kind of shape the original drive is in and best to have an escape route if things go south
