i just bought a used original xbox to mod. I didnt start the mod yet. When I turn it on, it says set the time. i set it, next day it does it again. Whenever its unplugged for a while it will do this. My other 5 dont have this problem. Should I return it and get a different one, or just softmod it and it wont matter then, or will that still come up? I have read that it might be a capacitor, or maybe someone tried softmoding it already.
thanks for the help

I had that same problem a while back, all of the sudden it started wanting me to set the time every time I turned it on even tho it had been softmodded for a while. Almost seems like a CMOS battery, but there isn't one in there, and then all of the sudden it just stopped doing it. You can still softmod if you want, but when it acts up all it will do is make you set the time when you turn it on and then proceed to your dashboard. But it does get irritating

It has a type of battery that holds charge for a little bit, if you turn off the xbox and unplug it then press the power button you will see it flash and hear it discharge the stored power.
If you don't get the flash and discharge noise then that little part must have went bad.

no, because you have to set the time/date correctly when having a softmod installed. if you install a softmod and the softmod doesnt load up no matter what you do, make sure you set the time/date and then reboot and you will be well on your way _________________ Hotswap Tutorial|FTP Tutorial|HyperX Flashing Tutorial

I've never heard of such a spot but it may exist. _________________
