hi everyone
had the bright idea of softmodding my - i mean our - xbox to unlock all these goodies ive been reading about .anyway long story short
1 installed linux with action replay which seemed to be ok
2 installed unleash
restarted xbox - oh dear
wife calling me idiot
son moanig his head off
xbox dont boot light goes green then flashes red
found this website after many hours googling and apparently -according to one of your tutorials -this can be fixed
luckily my birthday - the other day - guess what i bought - a second hand xbox for £25 - eveybody happy.
now ive got the broken xbox to play with and since trawling the web in search of answers cant wait to get started so any help would be very much appreciated

hi mate
thanks for the reply . ive got my xbox in bits and i think its version 1.1 - i think - even tho ive got no experience with consoles - that the eeprom bios is shagged due to softmod - but like i say ive got no idea - but any input is greatly appreciated .
xbox flashing red - not full on red - is this known as circle of death ?

Yeah, have you tried reinstalling the softmod? For things like the problem you describe, a quick reinstall is normally all you need.

hi y'all
cant retry softmod cos basically - turn on xbox - flashes green for a millisecond - then red [red for dead ].
as i said bought an xecutor 2.6 to try and sort it but to no avail.it is sitting in its box by the door waiting for one of you brainy bunch to fix it by telepathic means .
it sits there teasing me but im having a break - not admitting defeat !
cheers chonnock

Did you try and run the game you Soft Modded it with? When I got the error message and blinking red light I just Popped in Splinter Cell, hit the power button and it acted just like normal.
Ran into the game save menu, selected Linux and I was back into the soft mod menu. Installed the mod using Wes video all over again and I was backup in business.

Yeah, thats fine mate. Mine goes orange when I get to my dash. The colour is changable via the .ini file, but I think its set to orange by default.

right chaps
splinter cell didnt work - so xbox in box and back up to loft - sigh .
then - EUREKA - I HOPE !
let me run this by you
at the moment ive got a comatose xbox and a fully functional chipped xbox .
could i
1 take chip out of modded box
2 unlock hdd from good box after backing up eeprom with configmagic
3 install chip to bad box
4 install unlocked hdd to bad box
then would this boot and be able to re-write eeprom with configmagic restore-thus briging my xbox back to life - dr house and frankenstein rolled into one
then rebuild original hdd using cloned eeprom - after somehow unlocking it
-take out mod chip and unlocked hdd - then replace rebuilt drive -then
- a s**t seemed like a good idea at the start -
am i going in the right direction or following the yellow brick road - just an idea back to the beer
cheers chonnock

bad idea
managed to unlock the hard drive with hdd unlock- well worth £2 -installed chip to dead box , booted with slayer disc and tried to flash tsop but no joy - then again just got to put a chip in to rejuvinate it so there you go hard mod with chip the way to go !
