Uh just read this discussion and I have a solderless connection in my xbox and I am always moving it from my hobby room to the living room and it has never moved or fell out. You guys sure you aint playing tackle football with your xbox as the ball? Maybe you are flipping it upside down and shaking it for some reason? I would rather go solderless. _________________

I was just saying that i take mine to gamer partys and carry it in a backpack, every time i did this with the solderless i wold need to open it and reset the chip.
Solderless is fine if you dont move it much.

now then. I have a v1.6 xbox, and the X3 CE chip. Which bios would you suggest? I'd eventually like to put in XBMC, however right now all i need is ability to play my backups, homebrew, and emulators.

You can use the (X3 3294 v16plus) bios for all that on a 1.6 xbox.
Or for xbox ver. 1.0-1.5 use the (X3 3294) bios

ok, i've successfully flashed the x3 3294 v16+ bios.. ive made a bootable AID 4.10 dvd, and i believe i installed EvolutionX correctly (one-click install option).. but without the AID disc in, it keeps booting up to the x3 config live. Did i do something wrong? Do i need these dip switches/buttons turned on to boot up a dashboard?
BTW, thank for all your help wes... i wouldn't have been able to do this without you

All good man, i love to help.
In the x3 controle panel you need to set a default dash and turn off the boot to X3CP option.
