What would be the advantiges of running linux over windows xp? Would i still be able to play all my games that i can on xp?

yes most of them with a windows emulator and one hell of a beast of a machine

why would you need a top end machine to run a windows emulator in linux? and also isnt linux more secure than windows? pretty much no virus at all and i dought ppl break into them like they do with windows..
I was also under the impression that linux does not use as many resources, when i once installed it, it seemed to run MUCH faster than with a clean install of windows. I formatted and put windows back on because it was too difficult for me to use.
(I do believe i had fedora at the time, could have been mandriva though)

I would guess like 2 gigs or ram, duel core 2.1 ghz and like a nvida geforce 6600 to run one. I dont really know though.

well think about for a sec you are running another op sys in a op and we all know the amount of system rescorces that M$ windows takes and then you are gonna run into configuration problems between the too of them the best way that i have found to do it is i put linux on one partion and windows on another i used ubuntu for almost everything i did, but i did have trouble logging in to my xbox with it so i would use M$ to do that but i got a new laptop and i did vista on one partion and suse on the other but suse is not as easy as ubuntu. kinda wishing id stayed with it you can check out the windows x program(to run windows aps in linux) but i dont know if it will run windows games

Oh i get it, yea i spose when running an os in an os it would use double the resources... that would be the only thing for me tho cuz i like alot of apps that run under windows and i had a hard time finding the same thing or something similar to it for linux.

Mad has the best bet for this when he said to use dule boot, keeps it useing one OS at a time and a restart is all you need to switch from one to the next.

For more info on this check the links: http://www.nacs.uci.edu/dcslib/linux/rh-7.0/rhl-rg-en-7.0/s1-dualboot-choosing.html
