I picked up a used xbox used from gamestop. I hadn't soft modded in a while and had a few friends that wanted me to do it. I figured I would try one of mine first to make sure I wasn't as rusty as I thought I was. I still had my M$ memory card with the NKnave 4.0 SID with Splinter Cell NTSC. When I select the Linux save I get a 21 error. Now in the NKnave user guide it says:
Typically means you're missing .dip files on your c: Drive or you have .xip's from a different (wrong) dashboard version. To fix simply restore a complete backup of the c: drive...
How is this possible...and how do I fix it????

This all makes sense to me but the only thing that is odd is that the xbox still acts fine if you are just running the M$ dash or playing a game. It's not like it's throwing out this error while it's booting (which is what my first one did before I modded it with a chip)...this is happening after I select the Linux gamesave...as if the xbox isn't seeing the installer. I have tried re-installing the gamesaves and even loaded NKnave SID 4.5 and still the same result. My dash version is up to date. The only thing I can think of is that the last owner softmodded it then uninstalled the mod or if Gamestop somehow does something to it's used XBOXs (which I highly doubt) that somehow throws up this error when you try to softmod it. I'm just wondering if I can somehow fix this dash...I have a xbox that is chipped but is it possible to repair it if I threw this hardrive into it???

If you got the eeprom it wold help.
