Alright I was thinkin about orderin a v1.0 heatsink, the one w/the fan, for my 1.6 xbox and I wanted to know if its even possible to install one b4 I order it. I know that the points are on the mobo to power it on all the xbox versions as far as I know but will the heatsink actually swap in without a problem? Let me know how hard it was to install if you have done it.

I don't think you can because it doesn't have a spot to plug it in at. Dunno about fitting though, never tried it, cuz i just use my 1.0 box.

yes you can... Just tap into either the existing fan supply or the HD supply.. make sure you know the voltage on it , its either 5Vdc or 12Vdc

For real man I can't figure out why the hell they would've stopped puttin em in the Xbox, I mean if you can put something in it that can potentially increase the life span of the console then why stop?? It just doesn't make any sense to me.

i think videogames companys of today dont want their consoles lasting tooo long, ive had a conspiracy theory for ages the reason ps2s die quite often is to boost sales, i think that companys spends a lot of time considering current gen and next gen, because they hold back technology so to keep the prices up, i know FOR a fact that when the intel 1ghz processor was first out that they had 3.2ghz processors ready to sell and where experimenting with duo cores at the time, i know this cos i knew a go who worked on them, so imagine what the have ready to sell now and what they are working on next? you can doubt this if you wish but its plain economics, cos think if they brought out the 3.2ghz processor when they were selling the 1ghz no would have gone for 1ghz they would have gone 3.2!!! corperations suck they all just want to maximize sales!

Not so true about the PS2 man. I bought my first one right when they came out I paid about $450 for it, and it lasted me 6 years. A few months ago I replaced it, and the only thing really wrong with it was the DVD drive. Well if the 3.7ghz quad core is out now imagine what they got waitin.

thats sweet im glad your ps2 lasted so long, maybe im just a bit biased against sony, and i went through several ps1s and have seen a lot of my friends with ps2s that dont last, my brother bought one whne gta san andreas first came out while he was living with me and we played it to death, then he went and got another game and it died completly, after we couldnt get it to work i happily jumped up and down on it so i can say @hey ive jumped up and down on a ps2 before!!" and i dont like sony cos of past issues weve had aka snes/n64 cd based console crap where sony pulled all their research out and made their own console Boooh!

Haha yeah all the PS2's didn't last as long as mine but some did. I'm pretty sure the whole nes/ps1 thing was actually the other way around. Sony got dropped which is how the sony computer entertainment division got started.
Edit: heres a link to the story behind the PS1 http://romhustler.net/roms/psx
