Could have gotten a mod-chip too, would have saved you from ever having to do this again if you mess it up. Sounds like you fixed it so your going done the right path. _________________

Yea I could have gotten a chip but I know nothing about soldering and reading schematics. Plus they do run at least 50 bucks.
All this really had cost me was time me was my time. And since I swapped out his non working dvd drive I can now charge him for parts. After all he was crying about it never reading anything at all. I think I will ask him for 40 bucks since thats what I paid for the box I bought friday night.

Actually Timmer you can get the HyperX for about $35 w/out shipping, and you could always get a solderless chip since you don't know anything about soldering. Just thought I'd let you know. _________________

Does a solderless chip work like the old pentium overdrive chips where you would just swap out the cpu? Becdause if so I may buy a few and try to make some extra scratch doing this.

Something like that, you put down the solderless adapter to the mobo and plug in the do wire put the chip on top of that and flash it you done.
