I have a toshiba laptop hooked up to DSL and was wondering if I could hook up my xbox to the dsl and how I would go about this? Sorry it's such a newbie question but this old country boy has never had DSL before!

well to hook up the xbox and the pc at the same time you need a router makes it all real ez but with out a router your going to need 2 network cards i dont think your going to have that on a laptop.
If you just want to hook up the xbox by its self just plug the cat5 cord from the dsl to the xbox and set the xbox network settings to DHCP.

probobly cause they have a wireless connection to their laptop so they dont know how to set up a wired connection. I never had a problem with networking and I've had laptops as my past 2 computers. _________________

Thank you guys for the help and I will hook up my xbox first thing in the morning. I just got back from seeing STYX,FOREIGNER and DEF LEPPARD in Dallas and I am wiped. See you guys in the morning and thanks again for your fast responses.
