Service Error 16:
Info: Other files related with the dashboard or dashboard settings (specific dashboard error).
Error 16 means your xbox cannot find the menu setting with which you can set the clock of the hdd. This happens to a lot of people that erase their hdd (original/upgraded) or MS dashboard files and after that they don't immediatly install the hdd but leave the xbox without power longer than 5 hours.
Solution: You may have corrupted dashboard files on your xbox hdd. Use the 'HQ Auto Installer Deluxe' to reinstall your dashboard.
i can't find a download except for vip's is that the only way to download it

You need to reinstall the MS Dash, and also go ahead and install a hacked dashboard such as unleashx or xbox media center, if its a softmod make sure you use the softmod dashboards in the dashboard section at the bottom! _________________ Hotswap Tutorial|FTP Tutorial|HyperX Flashing Tutorial

Hi,
I am having the same "error 16" problem on a soft modded XBOX. I have AID 3.1, as well as Slayer, but neither will boot on the XBOX. They both work fine on another XBOX, so I know the discs and ISO's are OK. Any ideas on how to get the CD's to boot? I also cannot ftp to the box. What else can I try? Any help is appreciated.

do you still have the game save on the xbox that was used originally to carry out the softmod? If so try booting the game and loading the hacked gamesave and re apply the softmod

Thanks for the replies wes213 and pezzar,
I do not know which game was used for the original modding. Someone else did it, and I do not know who it was.
I also tried the hot swap method, but my Dell computer boot sequence must check for drives before the pause/break key is active. I tried several times to stop the booting process, but after hot swapping and continuing, it does not see the primary master. If I reboot with the drive plugged in, it will recognize it (but it is locked of course).
I tried the unlock utilities that came with the XBOX Recovery cd, but none of these seem to help either. Do I have a bad hard drive? Is there a way to replace a bad hard drive? I have the HDD lock key written down, but that's all I can get out of this one.
Help!

the easiest way out is to invest in a modchip. Go solderless theyre not a bad price now.

That's what I was thinking. I saw the xecutor for less than $100 including solderless adapter.
If my HDD is bad, will the new chip allow me to put in a new hard drive without the old hard drive?
