hey..im new here..... what i was wanting to do is put my spare 20 gig HD in my xbox.....what i was wondering is if there is a program that will be able to install a xbox OS onto the HD from my comp...and once it is installed put it in my xbox.......am i just being retarded or is there something that will let me do this??

1st of all is your Xbox Softmodded...?
2nd you need to find out if the HDD you have can be locked mate...?

my xbox has no mods at all.....and the HD cant be locked....but i thought it only needed to be locked to get on xbox live....and when i wanted to play on that i would just swap in the original HD

you have to mod it, and if you buy a chip like a Xecuter 3 CE you can set it up so the mod is invisible to Live and then just boot with the chip diabled and your golden... but you wouldnt be able to upgrade the hdd because live compares your "eeprom" to the HDD serial # if they change, they ban you automitcally
also it has to be locked so it can work with a softmodd, with a chip it doesnt have to lock, but if you disable it to go to the original MS dash it has to be locked _________________ (2) XBOX v1.4:

technically you could put in the chip and a new hdd, but then you have to install a eeprom from a xbox that hasnt been on live and i dont know how to do that. _________________ (2) XBOX v1.4:
