Hi there I've recently purchased a modded xbox with 160GB hard drive, however I can't work out how it is partitioned...I have managed to FTP the xbox and it shows C E F (and occasionaly Q drive?) as well as X Y and Z drive. From what I have read I should have a G drive for the remaining storage space above 137GB.
I have tried to enable and format a G drive with little success. If anyone can tell me what Q X Y and Z drives are and how to enable G to access remaining storage space it would be greatly appreciated. I hope this makes sense but if you need anymore information please let me know.
Thanks in advance, JMoore.

You need a program called Gee-Disk which formats the G: partition only and makes it usable. Make sure your BIOS supports larger than 137 GB HDDs. You can find Gee-Disk at www.eurasia.nu under downloads and then utilities and then xbox. Hope that helps you.

I use the X2_5035 bios that makes the F:\ drive the most useful. I have a 320 gig HDD in mine and when i formatted it, it made the normal C:\ drive and E:\ drive. But instead of stopping the F:\ at 137 gigs and started a G:\, it just formatted all of the remaining space to the F:\ drive. So on mine at least i have no G:\ and a 297 gig F:\ drive. That may be your problem. _________________

OK thanks for all the helpful replies. So as I understand it X Y and Z are cache drives for when streaming etc from internet or PC? and what do you mean by virtual C drive? Q seems to have my XBMC folders on it. Is it using this storage space or not?
One problem is that I don't know which BIOS I am running, when I go into settings it says "Unknown", is there any way I can find out?
Sorry about all the questions and thanks for your help so far.

The X,Y, and Z partitions are used by games that store map files (ect. halo 2) or other temporary game data. They are also used by programs like XBMC which can stream internet media and uses the partitions to store other images (for use with XBMC's weather information feature).
The Q drive is the same as your F drive or whatever drive you have XBMC stored on. It is supposed to act as a "C" drive (a concept of MS's C) for xbmc. It is not a real drive, only a simple feature in xbox media center.
And another thing. Do you know if your xbox is chipped or softmodded? If it is chipped, it should have a different screen appear before the actual boot up sequence. This is the easier of the two types to Install a G drive on because you can flash the bios from your modchip. If it is softmodded it boots up like a normal xbox except it has a new dash instead of MS dash. There are ways to go about booting a different bios on a sofmod xbox, like PBL 1.4 (phoenix bios loader)
AID 4.0 (Auto Installer Deluxe) is a good tool to use to create a G drive (after you fix your bios to support a larger drive w/G). You can find it in the download section.

Thanks for clarifying things uberlink. My xbox is chipped (with a Duox2 as far as I know) and yes when you press power button it comes up with a blue "mod inside" screen. I've already downloaded AID 4.0 but have only used it to update a couple of programs...
