Does anyone have exstensive expirience repairing televisions? My screen went out and I heard a sound like electric discharge. I opened the casing and when I plug It in a Large high voltage wire mounting to the top of the tube via a rubber mount was arking electricity. From right where the wire comes out from the rubber mount. The rubber mount is fixed down with some caulking looking material. Is the Tv dead( I smelled smoke when the arking was accuring or can I simply reinsulate the mount with whatever it is under it?
Thanks in advance. _________________ Xbox v1.0

I recommend taking it to a TV reaper I mean repair shop. _________________
Hahahaha..... I did he said he had absolutly no Idea! I put a new rubber boot on it and it doesn't ark so badly now. However, it still does do it. I do have limited experience in tv repair and years of pc repair. I believe the picture tube is bad, because it doesn't lite up(duh). But even that can't explain the arking. its supposed to be impossible according to three tv repair men I've talked to. One didn't even believe I was telling the truth about what it was doing. I think maybe the transformer may be bad and hasn't blown the fuse since it's still caring the current to the tv and dissapaiting around the boot. Just don't know with out more equipment to test or someone who knows better than I.
Thanks. _________________ Xbox v1.0

the arching is a form of a leak, a compnent has gotten weak and now is allowing arching to occur, you could make some more sheilding and add more rubber, thats the only temporary solution, or take it to a tv repair shop. _________________
