Posted: Tue Jul 25, 2006 11:20 pm Post subject: creating a bios flashing disk(Xcuter3modchip/Cromwell)HELP!!
i have just install a Xcuter 3 mod chip and am trying to install the X 3294 bios. i have looked up the method of installing this in several places, however when i put the disk in the xbox says waiting for drive then spits my dvd(memorexDVD-RW 2x) back out with out flashing or staiting an error. its almost like it doesnt recognize the media but i have used many different brands. I suspect there may be some process for making a disk so that the xbox will recognize it.

Have you tried to ftp the bios yet. Its probably easier. _________________
no i have not tried to ftp the bios. i am a noob when it comes to xbox mod and i dont have the x3 config live program. i think i read you needed that to network your xbox to your pc.

Well heres the thing do you have a dash board set up?? Next thing would be if you do you can go to the settings and FTP the bios over. IF you don't have a dash then you will need to put one on via AID3 disc. Now what year is your xbox because older ones don't like DVD-RW's only DVD-r's. So if you have a dash pick EVOX as your dash, then FTP the bios folder in the Cdrive in a folder called bios and take out your old one. no i have a "virgin" Xcuter 3 chip just installed. all i have is the chip nothing else has been done.the bios the chip comes with only allows another bios to be installed by disk, unlock/lock hd drives or flash bios by network. thats my problem. i havent been able to install a bios to flashbios 3. i have one cd-r i just found left. i have the X 3294 bios. i need to make sure that all i need to do is change the name to bios.bin hten burn it on slowest speed and thats it. i have all ready used all my dvd-r's and the dvd-rw dont work. i just need to know i dont make the disk bootable or something, format it some special way or something before i use my last disk to try and do this.

From personal experience, USE THE HTTP FLASH! it is SOOOOO easy! Connect a network cable from the xbox to a router, boot the xbox, read the IP, open your browser and open the IP(ie. http://192.168.1.101). Yes, if you have a router by all means use the network flash!! Your chip will be flashed in no time!
If you do not have a way to network to your Xbox then you will have to create a bios disk. I always use DVD-R disks when creating bios disks because then you dont have to worry about media compatibility with your Xbox dvd drive. _________________ Xbox 1.4

I ended up using a CD-RW. it is the only media my drive will recognize. I believe that the REALLY!!!! old thompson drive it has in it is going bad. i cant even play orignal games half the time any more. im going to replace it with a samsung as soon as i get the money. and thanks for the advice concerning the FTP flash too. I was relatively new to xbox hardware and pogram mods but i am A+ computer tech. expirienced and have made rapid progress. _________________ Xbox v1.0
