Have an X-Box with X2.6 installed and have tried to install bigger hdd, albeit, not much bigger (40 gb Maxtor)
Console boots up but hangs for a while then displays error code 9. The hdd also makes a beeping / clanking noise.
Checked out error codes and done all the things sugested for code 9, but have the feeling the hdd is not too far away from being scrap.
Am I right or has anyone got any ideas?

Cheers for the advice.
I did try to boot up with Slayers, but I think it may have been a coaster copy I have lying around.
I'll try running AID through it as soon as I get home from work.

Word. The hard drive, I recommend you check the warrenty and stuff. I scrapped a 40 gb maxtor as it was too old. If it is making these noises, it is approaching the end of its life. _________________

Tried booting with AID last night and no such luck.
As I thought, I now have a shiny little doorstop.
Good news is that the hdd was part of a job lot I bought so only cost me couple of pounds.
Oh well.
Thanks again for the help guys.
