Ok, so I have modded several xboxes......I get this v1.1 that is kicking me in the rear. I wa able to softmod it using the stock hard drive. When I get to the portion where you boot the AID, it will not let me backup the xbox, it freezes at 2%.
I install ConfigMagic and backup the eeprom there. I then used xboxhdm to create the cd for the larger hdd. Everything loads onto it, but it will not lock automatically. I use option 4 and use the hdd password from the stock hdd. It takes it but when I install the new HDD in I get error code 6.
Now, I start the xbox with stock HDD and run ConfigMagic. Once it starts, i unplug the stock hdd and connect the new one. It displays a different password on there.
Any ideas here? This is the first one that gives me issues. Is there something special about v1.1 or older boxes?
How can I get rid of this error code 6 and use my larger hdd? Thanks in advance for help.

what dash are you using, if evox then go to settings and backup. once you've done that your eeprom should be under C:/backup. ive always trusted that method more than any other. Once your've done that get ms-c-hosted-by-pirrup, throw the eeprom in there, make iso and boot that in the new hard. tell me how that goes.

first you will need to unlock the hd with the hd password you used to lock it .
after that look at the tutorials i wrote about upgrading hd's in softmod .
cheers

ps error code 6 means the xbox can't unlock the hd _________________
i will try this today and post results later. Thanks guys

When i couldn't get that to work I just used Chimp, its on the AID disc, its so much eaysier, I think, then doing the hotswap, plus you can lock it down directly from your eeprom

Havent had time to try anything but I was thinking about my chip. Can anything be done with it? I purchased the chip just to recover unsuccesful softmods by others.
Is there hope that route, with the larger HDD? Just a thought, but all comments are welcome. Thanks guys, I will try unlocking it today.
I did backup using evox. initially.

ok, i backed the box up again and bulit the iso with eeprom pulled from c:/backup/eeprom....is this correct?
I boot the cd and and go to option 3 and unlock....it displays a diff passwd than the one on the oem drive, and it will not unlock it
Even with that eeprom i backed up, it is not the same as the oem drive, is this normal?

Here is the latest.....
I recovered the hdd using HDD Unlock and started from scratch. I backed up using evox again and pulled the eeprom from the c:/backup folder.
Built the cdrom and locked it. When it displayed the password, once agin it was the wrong one from the oem hdd. What is causing this?
Guys, your help and advice will def come in handy now, I have no clue why the eeprom is diff.

put in your stock hdd and take the eeprom from it with the same way.(evox, settings, backup,) yes, it should be in C:/backup then after you have the eeprom, download http://freakyhosting.be/ms-c-hosted-by-pirrup.rar and put the eeprom in the folder that says eeprom (it should be the same as xboxhdm) make iso and use that cd to make the new hdd. remember to unlock the hdd before you make it and to lock it after your done. your new (larger hdd) should be the same as when u first bought your hdd, now softmod that you should be done.

I have backed it up and pulled that eeprom from that location.
Is there harm that I used the files from the c: and e: ? Or do I have to use the ones from pirrup?...just asking.
Also, I was thinking......can i build the hdd the way I have been and just not lock it at all, then start up the box with the chip and build it that way? Just a crazy thought but is it possible?
Here is the thing, I have done evrything you guys tell me except use the ms c from pirrup and i get negative results.....do you think by using his c files it will fix it? Once again thanks...its a learning exp for me as this has never happened before.

Ok, everything works fine now. Thanks to everyone who put in some time and ideas.
Here is what I did. I made a cd with only the md c: and no eeprom. I then installed the Xenium solderless chip and booted it through Xenium and locked it that way....figuered best way to pull eeprom would be straight from the motherboard. It locked and then removed chiop then I ran the AID and all went well.
Once again thanks guys for the help....
