Hey guys I just picked up a broken xbox for Free!! I know its broke! and I would enjoy getting it working. First off the xbox boots up, (after flubber) where it displays microsoft below the xbox logo. Microsoft does not appear below the screen!! then the screen changes to Your xbox needs service with no error code!! I was told from another source its the HDD and it needs to be replaced? Good luck for me!! I found an exact match on ebay. The kernel # on the motherboard is 3944 the same for the old harddrive and the same for the new hdd the hdd I bought is still locked cuz this xbox is not modded well I hope all goes well if I have been mislead please notify me Thanx

Warning, the hdd may still be locked which means it's a brick.
I'd buy a chip and a hdd and bypass that issue entirely!
Go visit bestbuy.com for the hdd and snag a chip online.
