I am a noobie to this kind of things, and its making me interested in becoming a modster to help whom ever in my region, but I need to start somewheres uh? and well as you might know it, that starts when ever someones xbox first kunks off after it's been mod chipped, soft modded or whatnot. But as everyone else here I am sure and has had the same problem. My xbox has been "modded" to my recollection when i paid the guy who first "supposedly" installed a mod chip. I paid him good for it too, but I guess when I found out how my xbox was never even opened up in the first place i knew it had been just software installed over the hard drive of the Xbox. Now I have a problem when it starts up. I get the error messege 13. I know it has something to do with the dashboard. And I had tried recently to make a dvd disk bootable with autoinstaller deluxe. I dont know if i had done it right but as far as I can see i have. I need help here in figuring this out because i do see a career in this kind of work only if I know exactly what it is i am going to be doing. There are plenty of people around my region looking for to have their xboxes fixed up. but I dont want to rip them off like I had been. is there a software i can boot into the disk drive of the xbox to run the missing file and reinstall that missing file for now until I purchase a mod chip?

An error 13 may be recoverable with the game used for the exploit (mech assult, Splinter Cell, 007 AUF). Most softmods have a back up of the m$dash which can be restored. This will save you from doing a hotswap or buying a modchip.
If you are looking to provide a service, you will need a modchip with a solderless application. (a chip you can move from box to box without soldering). Also a least one of the three games used for the gamesave exploit.

Good call DM but in his post he said some guy modded it for him, so he was looking for a quick fix he might be better off holding out for the chip to do the repairs.
And as for modding for others what i do is have them get all the parts and do the hands on part.
Most guys i mod for muck up the box 5 or 6 times in the first week or 2 and want you to fix it and with a chip you can just format and start over.
Just my 2 cents.
