ok,here goes. I traded for a modded xbox and it played fine. I don't know the chip but it has one. Ok,when i first got it and turned it on it would go through the green crap and then the avalaunch logo and then a dashboard. Well one of my kids i guess changed some thing in the settings because now it boots to all the green crap and then to a black screen w/ a xbox logo and a evo x logo in left upper corner. then does nothing. tried to boot an auto installer and nothing. Playing around I put a pal game disk(NTSC box) and it loaded the game! the screen was way off center but it did it. Put another game in it ,booted it up and nothing. Tried qwix to ftp and it won't recognize the xbox. Can someone please tell me what the hell happened and how to fix it? If I can't ftp and it won't boot an installer,how do i do it? need explicit instruction cause I have no clue on what or how to fix it.

Do you know what kind of chip you have? That would really be all we needed to know. It sounds as if your bios got currupt or switched. _________________

no I don't. I'm trying to contact the person I got it from. He lives 900 miles from me. Only way of contact is through email and he hasn't replied. If it is what you think,is it hard to fix?

Please do not double post. I deleted your other post. As for determining what chip you have why dont you just open up your xbox and take a look at it....all you will have to do is remove your hdd and dvd to get a good look....then if you still can see what it says on the chip you can take a picture of it and post it on here and we can probably tell you....as long as you don't rip everything out of your box in a brute manner you won't screw up your box......later. _________________ Xbox V1.6

sorry about double post,didn't realize it. Anyway,took xbox apart and only seen a jumper wire held down with tape..no chip. could it be on underside of mb? tried to use auto installer deluxe and it goes to boot and shows a little AID logo and then tries to reboot! wtf?

Well the more I looked and tried to figure this out,the more i think its a software exploit of some sort. the wire is bridging 2 points that looks like it should have just been soldered. With that being true,now what? Is there anyway of fixing it? I can't ftp my xbox cause it says something about making sure the ftp network is on,or my xbox is turned on. Well it is turned on but I can't access anything. Won't boot up any autoloader i've burned. burned about 10 dvd coasters so far. Somebody please help.

It sounds as if he just flashed the tsop. Call him and tell him you need to buy a real chip now to fix it. Kind of sucks that people sell xbox's "chipped", when really, it's as simple as bridging a few points or loading a gamesave. _________________

To me, it sounds like you just need to reinstall your dash.
What did you burn the AID to? (CD-r, CD-rw, DVD-r, or DVD+r)
What kind of DVD drive do you have? (not all drives read all media)
I also agree that it sounds like you have a flashed TSOP. _________________ I think I like fixing Boxes more than using them!

Fixed It!! Got a disk I made of ConfiMagic to boot up. Then I did the update the eeo%$# something and it went back to its original state!! Thanks for all the help guys!! Got one more question, I used QWIX to ftp an iso game to the hd. Why isn't my dash picking up an icon of the game? The games is there but can't select it in the games menu....
