Well this is my problem its probably somthing simple but im n00b!!121 lol..
So I was installing softmods using mechassault saves I installed SID 3.0 I think it was but then I uninstalled that too isntall kanes 6.6.6 or w/e so I backked up the eer w/e and the ms both backed up then installed the softmod then it tells me too turn off the xbox and I did. So then when it booted back up it said softmod installed succsessfully but too be able to switch too MS mode I have too press A to copy files and when I pressed A it started to copy but then froze and stopped coping I had too turn it off and when I turend it back on it went to evolutionX dash and when I try to go back to MS dash it gives me error 21 please call customer service in like 9 diffrent languages. I tried uninsstalling the softmod and it said it cant be uninstalled cos the backup was mising or somthing then I tried too reinstall it it worked so I turned off xbox again came back too congradulations mod sucsessfully installed and then when I press A it hangs again.. I am able too FTP my xbox though but it dosnt go too evolution dash anymore
I think theoretically I could some how dowlnoad the MS dash from online and ftp copy it back? or what.. somone please help!

I can really help you if you can specifically tell it what version of SID you're using. My uncle ran into the same problem the other day when his ms dash won't boot. What you need to do is basically download the ms files from pirrup's signature. After you downloaded and unzipped it, ftp into your xbox and create a file called backup in your e drive. Then you ftp the ms files into that folder. You should now be able to uninstall your softmod and then do it all over again or use the latest SID (4.0) I've personally never had it freeze up but i recomment using another version if the problem happens again. Just make sure you always make a backup of your ms files and your eeprom.

download AID2.11 final and format hd (don't reboot)
go to softmod section and install nkpatcher + ms dash
don't forget to go back to softmod section and install a hacked dash before the reboot

Thanks for the suggestions, I kinda figured it out for my own what I did is I downloaded AID2.11 iso and I unpacked it using a xbox file unpacker and I specifically found the ms foulder and copied over it too e:\backup and then my ms dash was back and I was able too uninstall but everytime I installed the softmod it would freeze at a specific file so I read the DIR of the file..repeated what I did, it was suppost too delete everything on C: and copy it over.. and I did that manually I deleted everyfile on C:\ (backed up first of corse) then copied over the files which were also in the iso and blam the install didnt freeze... the soft mod im using is Knave's linux 6.6.6 or somthing copied over the linux installer and the Mechassault profile too run that but I dont know if this softmod is even that good... evolutionX dash etc.. is SID4 better and where can I get it I looked around and no dice.. also I burnt that xbox iso the AID2.11 or w/e too a CD-R wel first I did the dummy cd patch thing then I burnt it but it dosnt load in my xbox... I put it in and the xbox loads for long time and the little microsoft logo appears but then it just loads the dash so any tips? I retraced mys steps using the dummycd and it said somthing about couldnt patch or somthing but it was sucsessful... so any tips? thanks alot =P
PS. on knave my little xbox button is RED and when I switch to MS its still red... can I go on xbox live or will I get banned I think I remember reading before if its red that means you will get banned or somthing but I thought you only get banned if you try and log on when your not on the MS dash or somthing... auto logon is disabled .... on SID3.0 I couldnt FTP =/ so yah how should I go about preventing getting banned? if im on the MS dash am I okay?

u have to press eject try to turn on and the box should be green if u power it on using EJECT TRAY OPEN

Well thanks! I got the 4.0 SID and installed it and everything and I do have AID 2.11 but the problem is it dosnt work, I did the dummycd ver1.1 drop the ISO in and out comes the one you burn and everything but the disk dosnt read... any tips?

Not sure on the DVD drive my xbox has which is probably Philips but anyways I burnt at a recommended speed on my windows media pc using alcohol 120% image burner

I was using a CD-R my RW dosnt have enough room the ISO is like 640 and the RW I have only holds around 550 the CDr has 700mb and I dont now if I can burn DVDs anyhow do you need a special DVDR or will my DVD/CDRW drive do that? furthermore I thought you can use CDR's though cos it said you could on the turtorial for burning the ISO (as long as you use dummycd 1.1 or somthing)

your combo drive should burn dvds from what you have posted, certain cdrs dont work to well, if you burn it to dvd, it should read. _________________
