I softmoded my Xbox 1.6 a While back. I have XBMC installed and I can ftp to my xbox from my pc (When I setup XBMC Static In network settings)
This is easy as I have extensive ftp experience. However I have worked on this POS for over an hour trying to get it to network to my pc through my WRT54G Router and I literally am taking a break before I throw my xbox up against the wall. I want to scream right now. Not to mention that ever since I did the softmod when I play an HDTV rip or any form of avi file in XBMC it will not allow me to fast forward or skip forward. It always locks up and I have to reboot. I soft modded the damn thing 3 different time to make sure that everything was correct.
How in the hell do I get this thing to recognize my PC? I really need help with this. I created a network on my pc and turned on file and print sharing. Made a workgroup called "Xbox" and shared a folder to it. I then went into XBMC and it does not see my pc at all ever.
Someone please help me as I dont even want this thing if I cant network it into my pc.
I am at my witts end. I am really starting to regret this tinkering with the Xbox and wish I would have just built a media center PC.

Since you're using a router, make sure you set the setting in the xbox to DHCP or if you're using evox don't use static ip. Also, make sure you computer is set to obtain ip automatically in the network connections menu.

Well see the problem is that I have retail HD in it so its not like I can really transfer anything to the HD, there is pretty much no space on it lol. I wanted to be able to stream from my PC. I have been trying to find someone who can help me get this SMB working but like I said, I am about to just throw myself off the golden gate bridge! I don't feel like upgrading my hard drive as I am lazy.
