i've gone and done a silly thing. using slayers disk v2.6 i unlocked my xbox hd (with a gen 1 chip), and got error 05. so i put the hd in another modded xbox (xecuter) and locked it. however, now my gen 1 chipped box wont operate any hd's at all, showing error 05 or 06 (where as my xecuter will operate all).
presumably, my gen 1 needs a locked hd and the code is on the eeprom and i cant get to it.
tried all sorts, surfed net for weeks now, and have come to the conclusion that my gen 1 needs rechipping.
so... what chip can i use?? by this i mean i uninstal my gen 1, install new chip, turn power on and all works, no error messages, allowing me to re-flash from slayers?

first you need to unlock the harddrive on the xbox that you locked it on ,
xenium is a good chip , if you want something cheap then yuu can get duox2 or spider chip or ...... there are many chips to choose from these days
after you flash the new chip with hacked bios it will boot with an unlocked harddrive
you should still be able to do it with your old chip , its prabably not working or it needs a bios update _________________ Xbox v1.0/1.1/1.5/1.6a

thanks for that. unlocking the drive is not a problem, tried that already.
but how do i flash the chip when the xbox wont boot up and just goes straight to error message? or when i install the new chip, does it boot up with the cromwell bios and this will allow me to load slayers disk (and flash)?
i've read up sooooo many pages, topics, forums, guides, etc my brain is a little fried right now, so sorry if the questions are a little simple sounding!

most cheap chips come with the cromwell flash , for which u will need to burn a bios cd, cromwell bios will not let you run salayers or aid ,
the good chips , like xenium can be flashed through network or from harddrive or from cd , _________________ Xbox v1.0/1.1/1.5/1.6a

that sounds about right!
i've been looking at an Xecuter 3 CE, dont mind spending the cash on it, i've had the box for ages and i practically live on it! was trying to the evoX dash and apps, but my box would only boot up the M$ dash, so tried unlocking the hd. oops...
Anyway, would the Xecuter 3 CE boot ME up as normal (fresh out the box/unflashed). i only ask as the product description:
gives un/locking and password/eeprom details. i geuss the only way is to dive in the deep end!
plus i just find all the guides a n00b like me needs.

after finally getting round to fitting the chip, had problems with flashing!
will always dvdrs from now. but hey, its all up an running, except my hd was dead! chucked in a new drive, loaded the evox dashboard, and started playing with the tools....
which brings me to my nxt Q.
whilst copying games to hdd using the dvd2xbox app, my games came up named, but using Px hddloader, it came up un-named(well, the generic pxgame001).
any ideas on how i change it?
and is there any sort of compression tool i can use, coz these games are eating into my 80gb hd!
