Ok thanks to all the help On the wonderful site.
But I came Up a way to answer alot of question about changing the hard drive if you have a soft mod xb.
Im going to brake it down real simple infact iI will do it in three steps.
1. follow pirrups Tut on changing hd.
(it worked for me untill I installed my hd and wouldnt get past the starty up screen).
upset that i didnt get as much help on this subject as I had like to..Lol
I followed my instinct and done this.
2. Cloned my xbox stocked hd( you will need to unlock this. make sure you have it as master drive and set up your blank hd on the same ide as master and put it on calbe select .
3. start clone and go watch a movie abot two hours depending on size the of drive... lock both hd place your new hd in xb and wooo hoo sweeet sweet..
ps. once that done you should have everything the original had even your soft mod. peace a

yeah thats one way, the other is to use chimp2.4 it works pretty good. and all u need to do is buy a Y power splitter cable. _________________ xbox v1.0

OK but isnt that for chipped boxes? if so I dont own a chipped box i have soft mod from splinter cell.

ok, i read the tut on cloning your hd. but can it work if the hd you are copying to is larger than the original one? I have been trying to install my new wd120 gb hd. Got stuck on the "uncompressing Linux..... OK, Booting kernel", from Install Larger HDD into softmodded xbox. Need help.

Yeah you can clone to a larger hard drive, also for chimp you need a "modded box" doesn't matter if it's soft or hard modded, i've personally used it on both. _________________
