I'd like to get rid of EvoX and use XBMC as my main dash, but I'm quite a newb at all of this. Is there someone who would be willing to walk me through setting this up?
Thanks very much.

Ftp over the xboxmediacenter.xml to the pc and open it with WORDPAD.
(Delete the copy left in the xbmc dir, you will not need it.)
You will see this when you open it:
---------
<!-- When using XBMC as dashboard, define home directory here !-->
<!-- and move the XBMC xbe plus this xml config file to C:\ !-->
<!-- Example: <home>E:\Apps\XBMC\</home> !-->
<home>-</home>
---------
So if you have xbmc installed to F:\Apps in a folder called XBMC this is what to put in the home tag:
---------
<home>F:\Apps\XBMC\</home>
---------
The same goes for any partion be it C: E: or G:
After you have edited the xboxmediacenter.xml double check for errors.
Open the xboxmediacenter.xml with Internet Explorer. If it have any unclosed tags etc it will halt on the line with the error!
Then save it.
Ftp the default.xbe from the XBMC folder over to the pc and delete it from the xbox.
Goto C: and ftp over the default.xbe and the xboxmediacenter.xml
You may want to rename it to whatever your bios boots first (i.e.: evoxdash.xbe), unless you want to flash your modchip bios again to boot to a different order.
Also delete the E:\TDATA\0face008 folder.
Hope this helps. To me, this is the easiest way. _________________

I don't think any of the newer versions of XMBC use the HOME tag anymore, you have to use shortcuts now. I haven't tried it yet, I am still using a version from March. When I have some time mess around, I'll give it a shot. Has anyone done this shortcut thing? _________________ My Setup:

Why don't you just install it using AID. _________________

enigma516: Thanks, that's what I had to do...except having to transfer the whole extracted ISO to my xbox.
impwiz: I was installing/am using the latest build. :/

I am also trying to do this - I am using the July build with Evox. Softmodded with Ndure/SID 4.5.
I have killed my box once - had to rebuild but still want to try.
I think I have a plan, but little nervous about killing my box again!
1) rename the "SHORTCUT by TEAM XBMC.xbe" to "evoxdash.xbe" (overwrite the original)
2) rename "evox.ini" to something like "evox.ini.old"
3) create a "evoxdash.cfg" with a line "e:\apps\XBMC\default.xbe".
What I think killed my box before was that I:
1) I used the "Shortcut by UIX" (doesn't need a .cfg file)
2) Didn't rename "evox.ini"
What does the "SHORTCUT by TEAM XBMC.xbe" file do anyway? Does it just run and tells the xbox to look to "evox.cfg" which then tells it to look in the apps folder?
Maybe this will work for you, str1d3r?
Anyone can confirm this is what I need to do?

Do you have a dashboard folder on your E? On my softmodded XBOX, I have a dashboard folder on my E drive. I just deleted out the evox content and copied in all the XBMC stuff.
On my chipped XBOX, I have to use the shortcut tool. If you need help with the shortcut tool, I can write down all the steps that I go through. On both XBOXs, XBMC are my default dash. _________________ My Setup:

No I don't have a dashboard folder.
I used SID 4.5 (Ndure) - I don't think it creates one.
