Posted: Sat Jul 17, 2004 3:11 pm Post subject: Dowloading Games - PLEASE HELP :(
Hey guys, this is my first post, and as such I'm not entirely sure if this is a legal topic? I have read through about a million posts trying to find help but found none.
Anyway, here's my problem. I have chipped my box (v1.0) with the xecuter 2.3b Lite, updated the bios, installed EvolutionX on the HD, all pretty much the latest versions, and now I want to play a game!
I have downloaded a game off the internet. (Is this where I get shouted at?) The game was in a Win Rar archive, so I un-zipped it and got a 2.295 Gig .ISO file. I used xISO on this ISO to make it an XBOX file. Then I burned the file to dvd using nero 6. It would not let me burn an ISO only a UDF, so I did it as that. I checked the box that says 'Forced DVD-video compatability mode (required for XBOX TM).
Then I popped the disc in the drive. Evox dashboard loads and claims the disc is 'Unknown.'
Where am I going wrong?! My dvd burner is brand new, I've tried hp dvd+rw and TDK dvd-r's. Should I be using a different XISO maker? Or perhaps patching the ISO or something? I have read through so many tutorials but am ultimately overloaded with info and totally confused.
Please help! And I'm really sorry if I shouldn't have mentioned this topic - feel free to delete my post if so.
Thanks!!

Hi Smikey,
The backup game you downloaded was already in .iso format wasnt it..
Why did you need to make a ISO again of it if it was already in .iso format.
I think you need to burn just the plain .iso which you un-zipped to your dvd-r/rw using nero.. You will have to make sure your xbox can read dvd+r/rw.. Check our tutuorials section here:
http://xbox-hq.com/html/xbox-tutorials.html
Then search on 'best media' or just 'media'.
There is a list of which XBOX DVD ROM DRIVES READ WHAT.
If that doesn't work, make sure that when you use Nero 6 you don't use the wizard. When you open it and it pops up with the options screen of what you want to burn and stuff just click cancel. Then on the menu bar go to Recorder...click Burn Image....then open the xiso and have it burn it from there. I did the exact same thing that you did, and went through about 4 DVD's before I figured out you had to click recorder, click image, burn instead of using the wizard.

I'll tell someone for nothing..
DVD Dectrypter has worked well for burning ISO's larger than 2GB.
I use CloneDVD2 to burn my .ISO's to DVD and it has worked flawless albeit it isn't a free program.
DVD Decrypter is FREE....use it to burn your .ISO's and you will be fine.
later all. _________________ Good Deals: Death@Hand, funkydopenloven, StaticMind, Slamscaper, PorscheXboxter
