Wouldn't it be cool to meet all your friends from Xbox-HQ?
I've always wanted to travel to Australia! What better excuse! My wife and I were planning to travel Down Under for honeymoon 60 years ago (well, it SEEMS like I've been married 60 years!), but our EX-travel agent really screwed us up. She forgot to include our airfare for travel once we would have arrived in Australia. We were already scrambling for money to pay for the price she originally quoted us. We were worried but thought we coud just barely pull it off. Man, I was psyched! I dreamed of seeing Ayers Rock in the first morning light (now I just dream of feeding my children to dingoes - inside story). .. Sydney Opera House... Great Barrier Reef... the luscious vegetation & wildlife of Carrington (OK, maybe not that last one). Then the EX-travel agent dropped the bomb... "Oops! Remember that price I quoted you? Well, it's actually almost DOUBLE that!" Oh well, my plans to visit Down Under went down under. We went to Hawaii instead... nice, but it ain't Australia!
Last year, I spent over $5,000 to send my 12 year old son on an educational trip to Australia. All I got was a few funky-looking Australian currency. I'm ready to go myself!
I've heard there's NOT ONE UGLY GIRL in all of Australia (they feed the ugly ones to dingoes, I'm told)!
It could happen! We could sit around and play World Championship Rugby & V8 Supercars!
Screwy idea or an idea worth further consideration? _________________ The World's Most Awesome Xbox 360 Room

Hey,
It would be great to meet up i must admit..
It is very cheap in australia for you USA guys to come over and holiday.. You have to remember our Australian Dollar is very weak compared to your USD Dollar.. Basically the $AUD is normally always nearly exactly the same as the CANADIAN Dollar (eh?) exchange rate..
Newcastle is very cheap compared to most part of australia for accomodation too.. (eg. Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane).. We have Nelson Bay, Shoal Bay, Central Coast (Gosford, ERINA) and many other destinations which sydney siders always visit too because of how cheap it is.Sydney is only 1 and a 1/2 hrs drive from newcastle too on the freeway (express way).. 110km p/hr..

I only wish that was true. I was sitting at the traffic lights only yesterday when a ugly heffer tried to chat me up.. I just dumped it into 1st and dropped the clutch.. hehehe lol
But you are right.. Aussie girls are rarely ugly..

I'm all for the jaunt!!
Actually, I have already expressed to forahobby that I would like to visit.
My brother was in the Navy and out of all the places he visited he said Australia was the best! He was all over the world too!
Let me know when to book it!

*BUMP*
Im interested to see if we can get together.
Ill just BUMP this topic occassionally so other VIP's or other members may find it interesting..
How much exactly would it cost just for a return ticket from USA?
Maybe we should get some rough idea of the prices..
Hey everyone, I'm new here, But I would love to go to Australia and meet everyone. I have always wanted to go . Just tell me a few months in advance so I can get everything ready and save money on a plane ticket. Hope this actually comes together. c-ya

Australia and the South Pacific Deals
Qantas' Fare "Down Under" $700
Destinations: Auckland, Brisbane, Sydney, Australia, New Zealand
Provider: Qantas
Activities: Air
Dates: 2004-06-30
Author: Sascha Segan
June 25, 2004 -- Airfares to Australia work like this: during the low season (that's now), there's usually a $798 sale going on from Air New Zealand, Qantas or United. There's often a $748 sale. There's only occasionally a $698 sale. Right now is one of those $698 occasions, so if you're thinking of heading to Australia in late July or August, buy your tickets now.
Qantas' current $698 sale is on through Wednesday, June 30, and covers flights to Australia and New Zealand between July 24 and the end of August. You must stay in Australia between 7 days and one month, and unusually for fares this cheap, you can get frequent flyer miles for these flights.
The $698 fare is from LA to Sydney, Brisbane or Auckland. (Air New Zealand is matching the Auckland fare, but not the Australia rates.) Fares from other cities to Sydney, Brisbane or Auckland include:
* From San Francisco and San Jose: $830
* From San Diego and Las Vegas: $840
* From Seattle: $980
* From New York: $998 (no flights to Auckland)
* From Portland, OR: $1015
* From Dallas or Denver: $1090
* From St. Louis or Chicago: $1135
* From DC, Miami or Boston: $1160
Flights to Melbourne are $100 more; flights to Cairns are $200 more.
As usual, it's up to you whether to save money by designing your own connection to Los Angeles or basking in the security of Qantas' guaranteed connections.
That $1135 Chicago fare, for instance, is essentially a $437 connection to LA - really expensive when you consider Southwest is selling $178 roundtrips between Chicago and LA right now. Similarly, the $1160 Boston/Miami fare is a $462 connection, pretty lousy when you consider America West is selling $238 roundtrips to LA from Boston and American Airlines is selling $215 roundtrips to LA from Miami.

I'm attending a convention in New Orleans, LA in late October... I checked with several airlines TODAY & they all want about $1000 for a R/T ticket from Roanoke, VA ... makes Australia sound like a veritable bargain! _________________ The World's Most Awesome Xbox 360 Room

Hi all,
Im thinking we would definately need a large hall of some sort to have all our equipment in it.. We would also need some cheap accomodation available very close to the HALL or where we choose to hold the meeting/BBQ/Convention/PISS UP etc..
The Convention would more then likely be held in Newcastle, NSW Australia so the admins can organise everything with ease..
Newcastle is only 1 1/2hrs drive from sydney. We have 2 x airports on located right near my house PELICAN, NSW or alot further away WILLIAMTOWN.. You guys will probably want to hire a car anyway once you hit sydney so you can get around..
How long would the convention last you think?
- 2 days (weekend)?
- 7 days (full week)?
Im not fussed..
What sort of accommodation can people afford.. Should i be looking for Caravan Parks (caravans, onsite units), MOTELS, HOTELS or what..
You all are coming to australia to meet guys but also you want to be comfortable too..
well, just keep adding to the topic until we have all the details.

like i said.. Im easy.. I would prefer you come over for 2 weeks.. hehe
Plenty of places to go and see in the area..
Only 10 minutes to the Beach from just about everywhere in Newcastle apart from the suburbs. Nelson Bay is only 45mins drive and has Dolphin Cruises, Charter Boats etc etc Clubs.. Nelson Bay is where most sydney folks have their holidays..
anyway, good to see this thread is still cranking..
I would deff be there. Just make sure you give us enough notice so I can save some $$$.
