Hi, thanks in advance for any help, i performed a softmod using the splinter cell exploit, it worked fine initially, but i couldnt access the m$ dashboard, then it started displaying that it needed a service and 21 in the corner, it still booted games up fine, now it wont even boot up games, anyone know how i can get the xbox to boot up slayers disk so i can format the c:\ drive and start again

you never format a softmodded xbox.. lol.. Well unless you have plenty of experience.
I would suggest you try first to boot the ORIGINAL Splinter Cell game.. Hopefully you can still boot it. If you still boot the original game i would reinstall the softmod and then you could use Auto Installer Deluxe (AID - http://www.aideluxe.com) to reinstall anything you want even including a newer softmod.
Dont use slayers auto installer.. it is always way outdated.
anyway, good luck and im sure the guys here will help in anyway they can.
Finally:
If you cant get your softmod xbox running you may need to perform whats called a hotswap.. Do a search on hotswap in our tutorials area:

try turning it on with the power button and not the tray button.do that and let me know what happens?

thats how i always turn the box mate, it still comes up with the error, at first it did boot up games but now it wont even boot up original games it just goes stright to the error screen. although just before it displays the error it does look like its going to boot the m$ dash.
