Hi all,
A couple of weeks ago I updated my xbmc dash with Aid 3.01, unfortunately there is a problem with the aid version of xbmc when looking up music or film info as it will not update, I want to update to the latest build (xbmc 04-27-06 T3CH) can i get away with just FTP'ing all the files over to the relevent folder on the xbox and still use the original "RENAME_ME.xbe" and "xbmc.xml" or do I have to rename and edit the new ones and ftp them as well.
Sorry about the noobie question but I dont want to screw up my xbox.
Thanks in advance _________________ Xbox Version 1.6b

why doesnt the AID build work??
Are you sure its just not your network settings?
Can you stream news and other media from the internet?
I can just fine..
let us know.
the easiest way to revert would be to ftp in and copy the older version.
I would rename the AID xbmc version folder and then just ftp over the new files.
be very careful if you have a softmod.
if you are using a modchip you will not have a issue at all no matter what.
you can always recover from most error codes using aid and a modchip.
The Aid 3.01 version will not connect to the Allmusic.com database, this according to the XBMC forums is due to a change in the database website, the only way round this problem as I understand it is to update the version of XBMC.
Many thanks in advance _________________ Xbox Version 1.6b

This is how I update XMBC to a newer version. Not saying its the best way, but its how I do it. If XBMC is your default dash, boot up and go into DVD2XBOX. If the network is not enabled within DVD2XBOX, enable it (just a setting, sorry, not in front of XBOX). Once network is enabled, reboot, then go back in DVD2XBOX. In the main screen, it will tell you your IP. FTP into that IP, go into your XBMC folder, copy out the XML file (since its your dash, you have customized this file) and save it to your desktop on your PC. Delete the XBMC folder and replace it with the new XBMC folder. Overwrite the XML file with your customized one in the new XBMC folder. Still in your FTP session, goto your C: and overwrite your the XBMC XBE file with the new one and rename it to whatever your default dash is called...ex: mine is evoxdash.ebe.
