I'm travelling to Shanghai, China in a month and I was wondering is it possible to bring an Xbox with me here to Finland? I mean do Xboxes have area codes like DVDs so that the Xbox wouldn't work in Finland? Or do the Xboxes sold in China differ from ones sold i.e. in USA or Europe? Does anyone know much an Xbox costs in China?

im not 100% but i think that theres 2 kind of xbox pal(europe) and ntsc(north america) not sure if theres any other kind but anyways if u have a modchip u can bypass the encryption... u dont need to buy a new xbox all u need is a mod chip..... but im not 100% sure..

I also think there may be a slight difference between the NTSC in Japan and the NTSC in North America, but I'm not sure it actually makes a difference as far as the Xbox is concerned.
I'm thinking a modchip would sort out the problem for you. Is China PAL? I know most of the world is.

I heard that in order to play games that are bought from Europe/Finland I'd have to mod chip it. Would I also have to change the power supply thingy?
And what comes to the price, I don't think bringing it on a plane will cost any. You can either stuff it in your bags or usually they allow you to bring a package along with your on-board bag. I just hope they won't think it's a bomb... So as longs as you get through customs without a problem bringing it on a plane shouldn't cost any.
