Just a quick update. I have been trying to figure this out for 2 weeks. I finally made contact with another person who has successfuly modded a v1.6 XBox manfactured in 07/2004.
After learning that it could be done with new boxes I started over from scratch. I removed all the wires I soldered. I left the soldered pins in. I then cleaned all the contact points with rubbing alchohol to remove grim from the flux. I then re-soldered all the points with new wire.
Before booting it up, I flashed my XChip with the latest EvoX Bios v1.1 for v1.6s (which I found with mIRC in the xbins). And then the rest is history.
So I am not sure if it was the resolder or the EvoX Bios v1.1. I will never know. I am now learning the dashboard install and disc backup process.

Good deal. Glad you got it going!!
I have seen so many X Chip and Aladdin issues in the last couple weeks..whats up with that??
They all seem to be 1.6 related, well most of them anyway.
