is it possible to use a usb external hard drive for watching movies/copying files on a modded xbox? what program do u use? xbmc has the files view, but does the usb drive show up as a memory card or just another drive?

no its not possible, you can stream movies and music to an xbox from a computer thou. _________________

are you sure theres no way possible? i was looking at http://www.llamma.com/xbox/Mods/bet_my_xbox_memory_card_is_bigger.htm and thats without a mod chip or anything. I have smb share set up for my computer and xbox, and i have 4 hard drives built into my xbox already, i just wanted some way to transport movies and applications without taking needing a computer or xbox. I remember reading somewhere else on the forum about someone wanting to install an external usb hard drive, and someone else said they could but it wouldnt be able to play games off of it. Ive searched for the post, but i think it was in the vip section and my subscription just ended, im gonna renew with lifetime but have the money now

they are talking about usb thumbdrives, you xbox will only run one hdd at a time, unless it was chiped and did some other extensive stuff maybe. _________________

Well, you can use (most) USB hard drives as xbox memory cards (just p;ug em in with a usb adapter and format them with the M$ dash). This still wont really let you access movies/apps/etc from the xbox though, just gives you a massive memory card
You can mount a usb drive with linux though, but it's really more work than it's worth (not to mention slow since it's USB 1.1) _________________ OTB Mods.com
