you know when he launches the dashboards and the matrix thing come up you could select which one you want (evox, unleashx etc..).. i also saw a thing called media x menu.. im wondering how you could do that.

also.. do you need to have a hardmodded xbox to do that or softmod?..

You can have your xbox boot to whatever dashboard you want. You don't have to start at media x. You can start right from evox. You can also choose youe dash on a softmod.
