No but ill try it and see if it works. Im also going to try and just upgrade to 2.2.1 and see if that does anything

Some dvd drives are picky as to the media they will read. I had a thomson that would read ONLY Sony. Now I have a Phillips and it pretty much reads whatever I put in it. _________________

I think Rabid1 said something about trouble upgrading the xenium os on a 1.6 xbox. He suggested to have a friend with a different version box upgrade the os. _________________

Ok so i tried loading the bios 2.2.1 that i downloaded from Teamxodus's website. I believe it worked cause it flashed a bunch of colors and then the LED on teh chip turned blue and then it turned off. However, now it doesnt boot to any screen just stays black and the little green light just blinks. Any idea?

yes thats what i mean. I did the recovery option with the OS version 2.2.1 and now the xbox just turns on and the light blinks. So i flipped the recovery switch over and it just stays red and nothing happens. I think im ready to burn it.

Remember you do not see the recovery screen on a 1.6 and the chip going red is actually a good sign, it just doesn't find a recovery.bin.
First make sure you have a 1.6 and not a 1.6b. You can't upgrade the OS on a b. if you have a 1.6 then makes sure you unplug the hd. The download the HDD version of the recovery.bin for 2.3.0 and make your own ISO to burn to disc. then with the disc in the dvd and the hd unplugged boot with the recovery switch, the switch should not be covering the little black marker. You should see a sequence of lights on the chip then it will power off. If this doesn't work put the switch back into safe mode, then hold down the white buttn while powering on the xbox.
If all else fails I do test and upgrade Xeniums at no charge. All I ask is you include return shipping.

So heres the deal. I got it upgraded but i had to move it to another xbox. However, I cant get it to update to version 2.3.0, but im running 2.2.1 so its not a big deal. If you open the xbox and the ram in the front middle say samsung then you have 1.6 but if says hynix then you a 1.6b and the xenium chip CANNOT be flashed. I learned this the hard way, unfortuntly. However, the version 2.3.0. doesnt seem to want to upgrade on either version 1.6 or 1.6b.

I use a 1.6 to upgrade chips all the time. the biggest thing to remember if you want to do it from the HD is use the switch and unlock the HD.
