Posted: Thu Mar 10, 2005 5:03 am Post subject: Whats the difference between EvolutionX M8_16 and M8plus_16?
Hi there, I was just wondering what the differences between EvolutionX M8_16 BIOS and the EvolutionX plus M8plus_16 BIOS.
Someone told me to install the M8plus_16 because its for 1.6-1.6B and the M8 is only for 1.6 not for 1.6B I don't know if I have a 1.6 or 1.6B I know I have one of the two though. Also The person I got hte information from said that the M8plus_16 works for 1.6 and 1.6B while the M8_16 works only for 1.6
Could you verify? I bought a xenium SP. ICE for my 1.6-1.6B xbox and I am installing it tomorrow and I don't want anything to go wrong so I am taking all precausions.
Should I use the M8plus_16 as the person I asked on a different forum said I should or should I use the M8_16?

I believe the plus version is for 1.6b and the regular version is for 1.6 Not 100% sure though as I have a v1.0...I can say you made a good choice with the xenium though. It has multiple banks I suggest putong them both on the chip then if one doesnt work you can boot the chip and try the other one _________________ Xbox v1.0

m8_16 only works on xbox v1.6
m8plus_16 works on 1.6-1.6b _________________ [RIP Radio]

Agree totally with above. M8_16 was made soon after the release of the version 1.6. When the version 1.6b was released(with hynex ram instead of samsumg ram) the M8_16 bios caused ramdom freezing in 1.6b.
Therefore M8plus_16 is an update of the M8_16. You can use the M8plus_16 in both 1.6 and 1.6b
When they released M8plus_16 they also released and update of the M8 bios(used in V1.0 to V1.5), this called M8plus. _________________ V1.4

its not your chip....its either your xbox is the wrong version or you hsve a wrong size BIOS.....next gen chips will read whatever BIOS you put as long as its configured properly _________________ Xbox v1.0

What I do is download the bios to my head using the head port. I then proceed to stick the chip in my mouth and transfer the bios file that way.
Acutally, I do not think it is possible to update the bios without installing it. But then again, why would u want to update the bios if you are not going to be installing it, it would just be a waste of time.

But about the bios...i think it like the telephone game. It gets passed down any some lost plus in translation. I believe it's the same exact bin. You can alway veiw it to make sure. _________________

i usually eat the bios and the chip, then let them merge in my stomach... it seems to work but you can never quite get the smell off of the chip... lol
i hate to be productive, but if you want to flash the alladin before installing it, maybe you should pick up an alladin programmer....
