Hi,
I am calling out to all you Emulator Experts!! Can someone write up a tutorial? Just the basics....Where to put the emulator, where to store the roms, how to launch, etc.. Maybe MAME would be a good one to start with since with MAME I hear you can play all the old classics.
I read in another topic that realmccloy made a emulator disk that you could just pop in and play. Thats sounds cool.
If any experts out there have some time to make a MAME emulator tutorial....that would be FANTASTIC!!

Basically, to run an emulator off of disk is essentially the same way you run it off of the HD. Just burn the emulator files to a disk that your xbox will recognize. DVD+R will work best and will most likely be needed to hold all of the roms anyway.
Before you create the disk though, you need to create a roms folder and put all the roms in it. Then, once you put the disk in the xbox and the emulatorl launches it will look to the roms folder for all of your games.
Here is how I put MameX on my xbox HD.
I downloaded Mame. I uznipped it to my PC into a folder called MameX. I then created a folder called roms inside the MameX folder. I then FTP'd the whole MameX folder to the folder on my xbox HD that was labeled "Emulators". I believe mine was E\Emulators. I still could have put it in F which is where most people would probably put it.
After I did that I rebooted my xbox. Then, I navigated to evox and the area where it said, "self installed emulators" and MameX was there...showed up all by itself.
it was the easiest thing I have done yet. Burning to disk has many more steps. I recommend putting it to HD. I now have 1907 mame roms. Hard to believe how many arcade games are out there. I have ones that were only released in Japan too. It's very cool. Mame is my favorite emulator.
Now, my N64 emulator is also on my disk. It is in my F:Games folder. When I launch PxxHDLoader it is listed in the list of games. All I do is select Surreal64 and then it launches and I can choose one of the nearly 400 N64 games that are in the roms folder.
It came with my system, so I am imagining he had it on disk and then ripped it to HD using PxxHDLoader. _________________ Good Deals: Death@Hand, funkydopenloven, StaticMind, Slamscaper, PorscheXboxter

Perfect, thanks for the info. Only one question...the ROMS, do you unzip them into their own folders? Leave them zipped up?

For the mame emulator you leave them zipped. For Surreal64 you don't. That threw me off too man. _________________ Good Deals: Death@Hand, funkydopenloven, StaticMind, Slamscaper, PorscheXboxter
