Is there a list somewhere of the games that will not work off of the harddrive? I have copied all to my computers harddrive in iso form using xbox craxtion 3.1 and then backing up to dvd's. Most of the games that I do this way work fine but have a few that are not working and would like to know if they are on a list or need a different patch or so on. Grand theft auto 3 and vice city are among some of the ones that I have that do that. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Any game should be able to work from HD. I have GTA3 and Vice City on HD, but I backed up from Disk, not from PC. Were these games possibly downloaded off net? Could be issue with the game itself, not your machine at all.

Even if you have played the game, FTP'd it to your PC, then back to your HD...files can get corrupt.

When you creat ISO's from downloaded files, burn to disk, and then try to backup to HD anything can happen.

Can you play it off of the burnt ISO? I have downloaded two games via Bit Torrent sites. Both were already ISO's. All I did was burn them to DVDR and they play fine. However, I did not try to back up to HD. What program are you using to back up to HD?

You just need to start a process of elimination to find the issue. You'll figure it out.

Let us know how it goes. Give a little more info and maybe someone else can narrow it down better than me.

ok let me try to answer some of these questions.

First these are not downloaded games they are backup of the originals. I never ftp'd them to the xbox I have tried to use xcopy and phhd to copy them to the xbox. I ftpd them to my desktop computer then converted them to iso's useing craxtion 3.1 (the only way I know how to do it) then use nero to burn to dvd.

Most of the games that I ahve done this away all work fine just a few that wont. I have tried to play from disk and have the same problems. gta3 and vice city lock up before half loaded and have to turn xbox off and back on to get it unlocked.

As far as downloading one from the net I never have because I do not even know where to look for them. I tried to look at the bit torrent part of this site but when I click on anything on there I get a page of a bunch of text characters that I guess are code and that is it. I do not know how to download that or copy it.

Thanks

Hi,
I think in a different post you mentioned you had a large harddrive. Why are you bothering with all those steps? Install the newest DVD2XBOX, pop the game in and copy it directly to the harddrive. Simple.

I also have a DVD burner. When I first modded my XBOX, I thought I would just burn games and play them that way. It was a 50/50 chance that the burn would work correctly.

Since using DVD2XBOX, I have had no problems.

Good Luck!

I work ambulance and carry my xbox from base to base. I back them up so that I do not destroy the originals and in case I want to play them again later after I have beat them. When I beat them I remove them but if I get bored with the ones that I am playing at the time I have my backups along to throw them back on and start playing. hope this answers your questions Thanks

Well, I am usure why you can't make good disks of known working games that are currently on your HD. Something is happening when the game ISO is created. Because, obviously it works on HD so it's not your DVD2xbox or pxxloader depending on what you use to put to HD.

I would post in the CD Burning ISO creation section of the forum, or submit a VIP ticket and see what the other admins have to say. Like I mentioned before, I never have FTP'd a game over to my PC to burn. So, I don't have the knowledge to let you know what it could be.

The bit torrents are different. You have to right click them (not left) and select "save target as". Then, once you have the bit torrent file downloaded to your pc you will need two other programs.

First, Java runtime must be running in the background. Second, a program like Azureus (Free to download) needs to be installed and opened. Once Azureus is open, select open folder and navigate to the folder where you saved your torrent. It will then ask you where you want to save the download. I suggest creating a folder for each of your bit torrent files that you download and then save to the same folder. It just makes it easier. I only keep one bit torrent file in a folder. Once you specify the download area to put the finished product, it will start to download. Try not to download more than two at a time, as it will be real slow. Don't be surprised if it takes three days to download one game. However, it is worth it as I have got a few games, movies, and even PC apps like photoshop 7.0, Nero 6, and all kinds of cool stuff.

Good luck
