Hi!
I recently came across this package from the xbox crew Complex.
Apparently theyve decided (and thank you for that) to realease the tools that they use in their daily work as xbox coding pros, for all us Tom,d1ck and Harrys out here! Wahaay!
Heres an excerpt:
Welcome to Complex Tools. We have decided to release
to the public our tools for handling XBOX releases. We
realize there are other tools that may do similar
things but we think that our tools
are much better and easier to use.
What This Tool Does
-------------------
- Rip any XBOX DVD Game to drives E, F and G
- Smart folder naming. install folders will be named
using embedded name in xbe when extracting isos,
when using rars rar name is used.
- Launch installed titles with the press of a button.
- Uninstall titles with the press of a button
- UnRAR support for easy installation of releases.
- "On the fly" ISO extraction from RAR archives.
- Extract Xbox .iso images easily.
- Samba Share support : Unrar and extract isos to your
Xbox from a PC share.
- SFV Checker to check for bad CRCs in your releases.
- Built in FTP Server.
- Media Patching Option.
- MP3/S3M/MOD/XM/IT background music player.
- Supports PX-HDD paths.
- Easy to configure XML file.
- informative interface that reports installed games
disk space used.
Now, I myself havent quite tried the tools out yet, but I would like to start a discussion on the pros and cons, problems and faqs, tutorials etcetc of this package. From other forums I have heard nothing but good about it.
I will upload it to xbox-hq as soon as possible!
Cheers!

Yea this is a great little program, but I do have a bug to report:
Dunno if it is because of my level of stupidity but I can't get Complex Tools 1.60 (Latest version atm) doesn't run on my Xbox. Will try again or wait until 1.70
I currently use 1.50 and I'm happy with it, RAR and ISO support is nice also from both Xbox HDD and Networked PC HDD.
Anybody else want to have a play with it and leave some comments?

Thats good to hear I was starting to worry that I was the only one who ever heard of this thing..
Well, since you got version 1.50 to work could you please tell us how you install it etc.? I put my version on a CD-RW and used my Slayer/Evox to put the files on the hd - when I run the .xbe (?) file however all I get is a black screen...
any help would be appreciated, we may be more who have issues w different versions.

I would try and manuall install first..
Just ftp to your xbox and copy the files over.. Your evox (depending on which versino) will automatically find the install and add it to the evox menu on reboot of your xbox.

Yea just dumped it from my PC via FTP to my XBOX, then just ran the program. No problems what so ever (except for that darn 1.60 version).
There's no use using a Slayer install just for this, maybe if you wanted to make a new version with lots of updated tools, emulators etc. (which I might do later on myself).
Anyways keep posting ppl.

Note on the Slayer thing: Sorry my bad - all I meant was that I used the Evox menu to find an app to copy it with from CDRW to xbox..
Tried the 1.60 - still the same - just a black screeen no matter if I run it from the evox apps menu or not..
PM me if ya want to help me wif the FTP install - sorry folks

Hey DJB!
Could you please whip up some kinda little tutorial -> step by step explaining the installation process? What settings you put in the xml file, what directory you install the tool in and so on?
I have tried everything and the tool still wont run, version 1.5 OR 1.6 - all I get is just a loading screen or a black screen..?!?
Please help
Cheers!

OK. There's not gonna be much to this, but let's hope it helps.
Installing
-----------
1) FTP to your Xbox using your Dashboard + PC FTP Software
2) Navagate to F:\Apps (or wherever you put all your apps)
3) Create a blank folder called cpxtools
4) Copy all files/folders from Complex Tools to this folder, and make sure the default.xbe file is in the root of the new folder you made.
That is practically a standard procedure for installing apps.
Configuring your ComplexTools.xml file
---------------------------------------------
(Following info taken from the Complex Tools Readme File)
The ComplexTools.xml file is self-explanatory.
The following paths define where you can rip, launch, uninstall your titles to. You must define one path per partition for E, F and G as shown below:
You may only currently have one share defined. Future updates will allow for multiple shares.
If you wish to listen to MP3/S3M/MOD/XM/IT background music, modify the following line to your media path:
<MediaDir>f:\mp3</MediaDir>
To enable XBE Media patching modify the PatchXBE tag to that as shown:
<PatchXBE>1</PatchXBE>
Setting it to '0' means no XBE patching will be applied.
OK. Hopefully that has helped you out a little, if it still doesn't work on your Xbox I'm sorry but I'd have no idea why. Like I said in previous posts, Complex Tools 1.60 does seem not to work on my Xbox (v1.2 PAL) but 1.50 does work.
You could also try this, before the <eripdir> line in the xml file, insert this:
<nameserver>x.x.x.x</nameserver>
Change x.x.x.x to the Local IP of your PC. I saw this info in a file from ComplexToolsFix.rar, so it doesn't say what version the fix is for unfortunately.
OK, let me know how you go with it...

Thanks a lot! I'll try it out and let you know what happens..
Hope fully I can get it done w/o my chip popping out of its sockets again
Cheers!
