I used nail polish remover and cotton pads and water to clear mine. The mistake I made was trying to scrape off the black glue with a knife(just a couple scratches nothing major). I took some pictures of the whole process and it worked pretty well. it all took (including the picture taking) about a half hour. here are the pics.
