Did you make a backup of your c drive? If you put it on your computer you can delete the contents of the c drive on your xbox and ftp the contents from your computer or you can use the backup that you made with the installer that saves the file to the E drive on the xbox.
Patching does not return your machine to original state. It allows you to use both the hacked dash and the M$ dash.

hey guys, i was just wondering if there is another way to re-install the ms dash without the auto-installer (i can't get high speed internet). i want to return an xbox to its original state. currently, i have used sid2.
can i just go to "restore ms backup" and that's it or do i need to "patch ms 5960". right now i'm unsure on what to do cuz i can't afford to mess this xbox up. any help is appreciated
Use the Restore MS Backup if you want to return your xbox to it's original state.

Yup it was too easy, since I have admin mode I can edit posts etc so it's too easy just to set the topic to a sticky .

AID 2.02 has the extra menu option "Softmod Section". In there you will find a way to install the NKPatcher (softmod) + MS Dash. This will format c drive and set it all up for you, using msdash.xbe as the MS Dash and xboxdash.xbe as the softmodded XBE booter.

When I go to patch ms dash it gives me an error:
Batch Process Failed
The last item was:.
Action Renamed.
Why is this coming up. I did what you guys were saying...followed your steps exactly, and now I'm getting this. I've got the ms dash backup on my computer as well...since it was saying something about it needing something in the backup/ms folder.
Edit: Nvm...I fixed it.

I softmoded my xbox with SID3 and AID 2.11, I did a restore of my backup MS Dash and restart since then error 13, but games play fine, no dashboards. If i unhook the DVD drive I get error 11. I am pretty sure the hd is fine. Wondering if I need to restore my HD thru my PC or can I create a disk with an autorun, or is there an auto installer. Just need some help in which directions I should go.

If you still have the softmod save game exploit on your box, load up that game, and load that save game to get back to the softmod exploit dash. From there, if you made a backup of your original, you should be able to pick "restore" and be back in business! If you don't have the back up anymore, at least you can reinstall a "good" dash and get FTP access back working, and from there you should be able to take the virgin C: boot from AID or something and get back up and running.

I see you went through this same issue about a month ago, thanks for your help. I'm going to go ahead and do the hotswap.
