hey,
i remember reading a while that there is some corner to grind down when you put a 12v led computer fan in the back of a box so the top closes right ... however when i google it all i get is someones signature lol. does anyone remember which corner i have to grind down or anything else i have to do to make the fan work in the box? thanks! _________________ Blue Chaos

Basically, what I did was this:
First, the two brackets that come up from the bottom of the case that hold in the stock fan, I just cut right out. The larger fans just dont fit in between.
Them, I round off the corners of the larger fan. Once I have it so that the fan will fit down into the little pocket, I use little zip ties to affix it to the metal shielding.
I hope that info helps.

Actually, I prefer using a 12v fan mod wire set.
It piggy backs off of your power that you put into the hard drive and then the splitter ends up powering up both the HD and the fan. You can pick them up very cheap.
Here's what they look like:

Yea, I will agree with mod god, the molex splitter cable is great.
I have a 80 mm led fan in a nice aluminum case ,so I dremel'd off the rear fan grill and popped that bad boy in. also, behind the hard drive where the wires lay, I cut that out as well to allow for any excess cable to lay in the old fan area. I really don't mind if it doesn't look stock have to cut the shell and all, but it keeps it exceptionally cool.
But a word to the wise, I did a 9 Led Jewel Mod, I wired them all in parallell and each gets plenty of juice. When I got my 200 gb 7200 rpm Maxtor, it draws more amps than the powersupply wants to give to the hard drive, so I had the problem of the xbox fragging b/c of the hard drive. The hard drive wasn't recieveing enough power to spin up.
APPEND: Sorry, didn't mention the LED's power was spliced into the molex splitter as well. _________________ XBOX v1.6

Wow...thats wild.
I have my daughters machine that has a new hitachi 400GB Hd. I have a 10LED jewel ring, 12v fan (with leds of course), and El Tape powered up for an underglow effect, all running off of molex splitters and stuff... so far, it's been working flawless for about ten days (just upgraded from a 200GB).
I'll keep an eye on it, but so far no problems. It's a 1.0 mobo, 1.0 power supply... _________________ Good Deals: Death@Hand, funkydopenloven, StaticMind, Slamscaper, PorscheXboxter

Thats cool especially for your daughter. I saw her school video man, I forgot to leave props in it, but she very good, and that lady at the beginning, WTF?? doesn't know what an xbox is....anyways.
I really have been having the problem with my 1.6.. On my original 1.4 with the same 200 gb and same jewel, I had no problems, actually had the 2 sets of UV "lazer" lights ( the 3 leds wired to a molex adapter in a small case throwing the light glow in the 3 angled directions ( i am sure you have seen them, i just can't explain them at the moment) trying to do this and watch-- MP: Quest for the Holy Grail, its hard to type with the laughter.
I have alternating blue and white leds soldered in parallel and the last one is a THC3 white with 24000 mcds, in the center, branched off the main power lead, and placed in the center of the jewel, (filled it in with hot glue to give it an ambient glow to it all. It came out nice, I used a ramekin (the little bowl for condiments at restaurants.) a clear one, dremel'd off the bottom and drilled in the eight holes around the edges. I pointed them inward. It also doesn't sit flush, I wanted to do this b/c the jewel fit in the ramekin so perfectly if you don't see the jewel while playing, you can see the clear halo ring with the color.
Alright enough rattling on. I haven't tried to reroute the power to the led's on the 1.6 yet b/c I just got it back on its feet after that bad eeprom flash. So I am being delicate with my baby at the moment _________________ XBOX v1.6

BRING OUT YOUR DEAD....... BRING OUT YOUR DEAD.....
Oh man, I loved that movie!! The Life of Brian was incredibly hilarious too. Anyone that spoofs "Jesus of Nazareth" has got balls.
The 400GB HDs are getting more affordable so I grabbed her one. I loaded a lot of divx movies for her too. So now when her and her friends are playing games and they want to watch the Cheetah Girls....ugh.... all she has to do is load up XBMC and launch the DivX movie.
Then, when they are all hopped up on teenie bopper wannabee warm and fuzzy feelings, then just pop in Xbox Music Mixer thingy and sing to their favorte tues with her disco lights rolling...geez...her bedroom looks like something out of Saturday Night Fever.... _________________ Good Deals: Death@Hand, funkydopenloven, StaticMind, Slamscaper, PorscheXboxter

That righteous, your a bad ass dad, Mod.
Really quick while i don't have to open a thread, and I am just getting around to this now, whats the best route to watching Mpegs/avi's of Tv shows(ie Futurama to play on XBMC, I have been poking around their forums but they are so dead, I fall asleep looking at all the programming protocol. _________________ XBOX v1.6
