Ok just to put a little update on the situation. I still have not gotten the 120 gig to work as a softmod or in my chiped box. I dont know maybe its a bad drive. If i put my old stock or his stock or anyother harddrive in my own xbit chiped box the aid that is in the dvd rom will load first. but if i hook up the 120 the he bough that has nothing on it i get the error nummber 6. People keep telling me to format the drive. How can i format the drive if when the hd is hooked up and the AID is in the dvd rom i get the error message? I even got desperate and tryed a "hotswap" i also read about with the softmod still no luck. If anyone had this problem knows how to fix this problem please reply i am ready go give up. Also I do have a chiped box to do anything with i need with the HD but remember when it is hooked up and the AID is in the dvd drive i get the error 6 in my modded box. Thats what you need to do........it will format your new drive and load everything from the other HD (dash, apps, EEPROM, etc) just put the HD from the xbox you want to upgrade in your chipped xbox and use this method, should have no problems _________________ Xbox v1.0

and that is with the program config magic? if thats all then that is no problem at all but does anyone know the steps in config magic to do it? I have never messed around with it but i do have it in my chiped box. Also just off the top of my head i am looking to replace the 120 gig in my xbox with the biggest HD that i can. my question is if my box is chipped not soft modded can i buy any HD because as i under stand if you box is chipped it does not matter if the drive is lockable or unlockable but im now sure. IF that is not the case can someone tell me what is the biggest drive you can put in one and what is the brand/model nummber? _________________ Xbox Ver. 1.4

not sure if config magic does it as Ive always used the xenium OS to do the HD upgrade, but I know there are programs for it you just nned to look around a little.........as for the biggest HD thry this thread

I did look around and i found a way using my PC but i dont want to go and do all of that if i dont have to. so if anyone knows a program or a way to clone the drive with just the xbox and a program please give a name or a link. which drive is it? name and model? maybe you cant lock it ... but i thought all were lol. anyways! ... so with AID in the dvd drive in your chipped box and the 120gb hard drive hookedup you get that 06 error? that shouldnt be right ... your chip aint right . It should be work fine cause the chip gets around the locking. So have you tried this setup? _________________ Blue Chaos

I gotta tell you guys. The absolute easiest way to upgrade an xbox hard drive is to invest in a cheap solderless modchip (spiderchip works fine). Screw the chip down, insert the wires into the right holes, then turn on your xbox with a new hard drive connected. You'll be able to format it with all the correct partitions and lock it onto your xbox. After you lock it down, use Auto Installer Deluxe disc to install the MS dash, then remove the solderless chip and you box is ready for the softmodding with 007, MA, or SC.
I bought 1 $40 spider solderless chip and I've used it to upgrade hard drives in several xboxes. It has paid for itself over and over again.

It is the exact same HD that i have in mychipped box. My xbox is chiped with a Xbit and has the executer 2 bios on it. The chip is fine because when i moded mine with this exact same HD i had no problem whats so ever. I think they may have sent a bad drive. _________________ Xbox Ver. 1.4
