Hi, first off - yes i have tried the search funktion - just can not find the right answer among 30mill results - to my problem. I have installed about 5 xboxes in my time but No. 6 is doing my head in. Xbox-identifier says it is a 1.4 and it just will not boot with the chip and boots straight to ms-dash - i have tried loads of d0's but to no avail. my pinheader solder points must work because i have tried a smartxx chip borrowed of a mate. This worked straight away. I thought it was the chip so I ordered another - then tried a different supplier - i now have 3 modchips but cannot get any to work - anyone got any spare time to help a noooooooob?

The same thing happened to me once. It tested as a 1.4 but was actually one of the rare 1.5's.
I would add the extra two wires that you have to add for the 1.5 mod and see if it powers up then.

Hi, sorry about the long delay in answering - anyway got it to work. Looks like you were right. I added the L1 and Bt wires and at least one of the chips works (the one I got from my regular supplier) The first 2 don't work. I presume they have a wrong Bios programmed as they were sold to me explicitely for a 1.4. Anyways not to worry, the bloody thing works

Hope this helps somebeody else who has the same problem and therefore won't need nearly 3.5 months to fix
